John Cena recently reflected on his past interactions and history with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He acknowledged a change in perspective over the years and admitted that his initial professional approach to their on-screen rivalry, which spanned three WrestleManias between 2011 and 2013, may have been a mistake. Despite the on-camera disputes, Cena has repeatedly stated that he now understands Johnson's point of view and that their interactions were designed to improve wrestling storytelling.
“In the moments we spent together, I openly realized that the first foray into competing against each other was probably a professional mistake on my part. I was very apologetic and open with my apology, the way I conducted business was in an attempt to get a good deal. We did some great business and it was great to see a friend. He is very generous with his time, we actually chatted a little. This was the first time we had seen each other since I publicly apologized for it and I just wanted to make sure he heard it from me face to face too. It was really good to see a friend,” said Cena.
John Cena is scheduled to compete at WWE Fastlane, where he will team with LA Knight to face Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. It's worth noting that Cena hasn't scored a victory in a WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) since 2018, when he and Bobby Lashley beat Elias and Kevin Owens at Super ShowDown in Australia.
In subsequent PLE matches, Cena was defeated by Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36, Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2022 and Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. Despite these defeats, Cena seems determined to break this five-year streak without PLE wins at Fastlane.
