Coach of Sesc/Flamengo and the men's volleyball team, coach Bernardinho debuted with a 3-1 defeat to Italy at the Olympics, 25/23, 27/25, 18/25 and 25/21. The team had chances, especially in the first two parts, however, they ended up failing in the decisive moments to close the sets.
On leaving the court, Bernadinho spoke to journalists and regretted the team's mistakes against the current world champions.
“We had and created chances in the first set, then we let them go. Then, in the second set they opened, we had chances again, we took the lead at the end. I needed to believe a little more. I myself get frustrated at not being able to put the guys in situations where we are fully capable of fighting. There were some serves from the guys at times, an error by the referee in the second set that affected things a little, but the game was very equal. The exception was the end of the fourth, where we couldn't go back. We had every chance to do it, we dominated the third set. The question is to understand what the Olympics are. You can't, in difficulty, go down a little. Italy is a qualified team, very close-knit, who are world champions. But the frustration is because we created chances, we had good moments and we didn't know how to take advantage. Then it hurts a little“, said Bernardinho.
After the defeat to Italy, Brazil can only focus on the next match, which will be the duel against Poland, next Wednesday (31), at 9am (French time) and 4am (Brasília time). It is worth remembering that at the Olympics there are 12 teams divided into three groups with four teams. The two best teams qualify, plus the two best third-placed teams.
“Now we have to enter the time zone to play against Poland at 9am, having to wake up at 6am, a time when we don't usually play. But starting tomorrow, at 6am, everyone gets up and works to decide with Poland“, he concluded.

Former goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes, who gained national prominence when playing for Flamengoand was convicted of the murder of Eliza Samudio , now works as a furniture delivery man. At 39 years old, Bruno was seen performing his new role in Rio das Ostras, a city on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The information was released by CNN Brasil.
The revelation of Bruno's new occupation was made by the "Rio das Ostras 24 hora" profile on Instagram. A video published on the platform shows the former player unloading furniture from a truck in the city center. He would be working for a furniture company that also operates in Cabo Frio and Macaé, other locations on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
In 2023, Bruno had already released videos on social media promoting a furniture company, which indicated his approach to this new field of activity.
Bruno was sentenced to 22 years in prison in 2010 for the crimes of murder and concealment of corpse of Eliza Samudio, in addition to the kidnapping of her son Bruninho. At the time, he was a goalkeeper for Mais Querido, and his arrest interrupted a career that was on the rise. Bruno became Brazilian champion in 2009 and, in 2010, he was in advanced negotiations to move to Milan, in Italy.

Despite keeping a low profile, the couple has shown signs of closeness through interactions on social media, although they have not yet shared photos together.
According to columnist Valmir Moratelli, from " Veja " magazine, Bernardinho and Ana Paula announced their romance during the Paris 2024 Olympics. The news surprised many, given their reserved history in relation to their personal lives.
Bernardinho, 64, officially separated from former volleyball player Fernanda Venturini in 2020. At the time, he declared that, despite the separation as a couple, they maintained a good relationship and continued to live in the same house for a period, mainly because of their two daughters, Júlia and Vitória.
Ana Paula Araújo, 52 years old, also has a career marked by relationships. The journalist is the mother of Melissa, 18, the result of her marriage to businessman Christiano Londres, from whom she separated in 2011. Before starting her relationship with Bernardinho, Ana Paula dated lawyer Pedro Corrêa for four years.
