Brazil reacted with the protagonism of its captain, beat Ukraine 3-2, this Wednesday (2), and achieved classification in the grip of final of the 2024 Futsal World Cup, in Uzbekistan. The tournament's biggest champion, the Brazilian team is back in a decision after 12 years and is looking for a sixth title.
The captain Dyego was the Brazilian hero, responsible for the three Brazilian goals after half-time — one of them was credited as an own goal. Igor Cherniavskyi had put Ukraine ahead in the final minutes of the first half, and Korsun did the other for his rivals.
The opponent in the final it will come from Argentina x France and will be defined this Thursday (3). The Argentines, along with the Brazilians, are the only champions still alive in the tournament. The big decision will be played on Sunday (6). The duel in the next phase is scheduled for next Wednesday (2).
The team was behind on the scoreboard for the first time in the tournament, but managed to get back on their feet with a quick turnaround. Owner of the best attack and also the best defense, Brazil reached the semi-final overwhelming, with 35 goals scored and only three conceded in the previous five games.
O < a href="https://gazetadourubu.com/noticia/vidente-surpreede-ao-revelar-classificado-entre-flamengo-x-corinthians" target="_blank">Brazilseeks to erase the frustrations of the two editions previous teams in their seventh Futsal Cup final. After winning the last title, in 2012, the five-time champions didn't even reach the top four in 2016, and ended up settling for 3rd place in 2021 after losing to Argentina in the semis.
HOW WAS THE GAME?
Brazil controlled possession, but found few gaps in the compact Ukrainian defense and suffered with counterattacks in the first half. The opponents pressed high at the beginning and then closed in on their own field, always with tight marking. Despite dominating the actions, the team was unable to impose its pace in the game. Creation was limited, and nervousness appeared over time.
The drama Brazilian started with Lino's disallowed goal and increased after going behind on the scoreboard for the first time in the tournament. Taking advantage of Brazil's error, Ukraine scored just a few minutes before the break, and the goal weighed on the five-time champions.
The selection came back from the break electrifying, scored two goals in less than two minutes led by Dyego and turned the match around. With new energy, Marquinhos Xavier's team still had chances to expand and "kill" the game, but they were unable to take advantage.
Brazil managed the advantage, but paid dearly for a mistake in defense and took the draw, heating up the match again. The Ukrainians felt the turnaround and weren't in as much danger, but they didn't let the opportunity they gave pass by. Despite the equal score, the Brazilians seemed to be losing, and their opponents were close to scoring a third.
Gunner and Brazil's main name in the World Cup, Marcel did not have an inspired game. The player found the net ten times until the semi-final, but was unable to find himself on the court and went blank.
The pivot Pito, voted best in the world, was once again the Brazilian bank. The number 10 was rested in the round of 16 because he felt the hamstring in his right thigh during training the day before. He was an option in the quarterfinals and again in the semis, but did not leave the reserve.
GOALS AND HIGHLIGHTS
Block there and here. The two teams collided with the post to open the scoring. At 6' into the 1st half, Arthur was left with the ball after stealing the ball and hitting the post. Shortly after, it was Abakshyn's turn to turn on the Brazilian marking and send a bomb that also exploded on the post.
Goal disallowed : At the 9-minute mark, Arthur made a shot and goalkeeper Sukhov saved, but conceded a rebound. Lino appeared to divide, stole the ball when the goalkeeper was trying to hold it and sent it into the back of the net. The goal, however, was disallowed after a review by 'VAR'. Ukraine challenged, the referee went to the monitor and understood that the Ukrainian had control of the ball.

Two young Brazilians on the rise on the international sports scene have demonstrated mutual admiration : 20-year-old driver Gabriel Bortoleto, in his debut season in Formula 1 with Sauber, and 18-year-old tennis player João Fonseca , who competes on the ATP professional circuit.
Gabriel Bortoleto on João Fonseca: "He is incredible"
In an interview with the official F1 website, Bortoleto was asked what career he would pursue if he weren't a driver. His response was good-natured: "I admire a Brazilian, João Fonseca . He's incredible. He's climbing the ATP rankings, and I think he'll be a future star ."
Despite his admiration for tennis, the Brazilian admitted that his experience in the sport is still limited. "Tennis is fascinating, I love watching it and I like the players' mentality , but I don't play it often. I play a lot of padel, but I need to start playing real tennis."
When asked where he sees himself in five years, Bortoleto was blunt: " I'd like to be world champion ." According to him, being in F1 is already part of that process: "The best drivers in the world are here. I've always wanted to be here precisely to fight against them and, who knows, become the best one day."
A native of São Paulo, the driver began his karting career at the age of six and now rubs shoulders with some of the biggest names in motorsports. He also praised his team principal, Mattia Binotto , and highlighted the importance of idols like Ayrton Senna.
Bortoleto also revealed his closeness with current four-time world champion Max Verstappen. " Max and Ollie Bearman are the two guys I'm closest with in the paddock . I started playing video games with Max, and then we started training together on the simulator, back in the Formula 3 days."
According to the Brazilian, this friendship has evolved, and today the two share time off the track. " We have a group of friends with whom we play simulators . I'm even an ambassador for his team, Team Redline. Since then, we've spent a lot of time together—and it's been a lot of fun."
