Flamengo takes the court this Thursday (06) to face Franca, in the second game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) final. On the other side is Jhonatan Luz, a winger from the São Paulo team who played for Pride of the Nation for four years. In conversation with Coluna do Fla, the player revealed stories, opened his heart and commented on his expectations of facing his former team.
— I had a very big dream of playing for Flamengo and I fulfilled it. I'm a big fan of the fans. My father lived in Rio de Janeiro and I followed. I've been to Maracanã several times. It was sensational to play for Flamengo. Everything I competed for for Flamengo, I won. I had the pleasure of playing with Olivinha, Marquinhos and Varejão, great basketball icons. I didn't have the opportunity to play with Marcelinho Machado at Flamengo, but I played for the national team. It was sensational, I had great moments. Entering Maracanã to call the fans to the World Cup was surreal. Seeing the fans cheering us on was surreal — he highlighted the Flamengo fans.
— It's part of the job to face the former team in an NBB final. It's not the first time, last season it was also Flamengo. It is complicated. You make friends on the team and suddenly you have to leave. I didn't want to leave, it wasn't my fault, but it's part of it. My cycle was very good at Flamengo, I won everything and I was very happy. Now I'm on the other side and I have to respect it. I respect Flamengo and Franca a lot. We know it's a confrontation and may the best win — concluded the winger about facing Flamengo in the NBB final.
Jhonatan Luz has a contract with Franca, but the player left open the possibility of one day returning to the Flamengo. Despite his desire, the winger highlighted that he aims for the present, but that he pays respect to the two teams that have won the most titles in his career.
— At present I am competing in another final. My seventh final in a row and I have five titles. Only God knows my future, whether I stay at Franca or return to Flamengo or another club. Today I'm defending Franca's shirt and I'm going to do my best to win as many titles as possible and make history. If I could return to Flamengo, I would really like to, but I'm grateful for the things that have happened in my life and in my career - he commented.
Therefore, Flamengo faces Jhonatan Luz's Franca this Thursday (06), at 7pm (Brasília time), in São Paulo, in a game valid for the second leg of the NBB final. It is worth noting that Flamengo needs to beat Franca to stay alive in the confrontation. This is because, if Pride of the Nation is defeated in São Paulo, the São Paulo team will win 2-0 in the best-of-three series and win the NBB title.
