Vini Jr was designated as a Goodwill Ambassador by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) this Friday (2). The Brazilian athlete was awarded a certificate at Real Madrid's training facilities, expressing his honor with the title.

"Receiving this invitation to be a UNESCO ambassador at the age of 23 is more than an honor, it is a victory and a duty that I will carry throughout my life. Of course I want to be remembered as a great player, but also as a citizen who strived to do something different. I have fought for education since I was 19 years old and until this year only with my resources, and my Institute grows month by month in Brazil. With the power that is UNESCO, we are going to impact the world", declared the player.

Audrey Azoulay, director general of UNESCO and one of the main people responsible for taking Vini JR to the position, addressed the reasons that led the entity to select the player as one of the leaders in the role.

"Vinícius Junior is not only an exceptional football player, he has also been involved from a very early age in promoting equal opportunities through education in Brazil. He is a model for an entire generation, and UNESCO is honored to have him today as one of its Goodwill Ambassadors," he said.

It is the second time that a Brazilian player has been named a Goodwill Ambassador by UNESCO. Before Vini Jr, only Pelé, King of Football and Santos idol, had been chosen.

Last Wednesday (4), Flamengo held the seventh edition of the Sangue Rubro-negro campaign, at the Gávea headquarters. Hemorio's partner team was at the Gávea headquarters, from 10am to 3pm, collecting blood in the playground's party room. Athletes, employees and associates were able to donate and make a difference: each bag of blood can save up to four lives.

In addition to encouraging blood donation, the campaign also sought to raise awareness about the importance of this act of generosity and how it can save lives. “The partnership with Flamengo Social Responsibility is very important. More than attracting donors, this action seeks to awaken civic and social sentiment, ensure greater dissemination and demystify fears. It is an extremely educational and important action for maintaining stocks”, declared Dr. Renata de Almeida, a Hemorio doctor present at the action.

Blood donation is essential for health units to continue serving patients undergoing treatments and surgeries. The only way to guarantee the blood supply is through voluntary donations.

To donate blood, you must have an official identification document with photo, original or certified copy; be between 16 and 69 years old; be fed and in good health; weigh more than 50 kg; not be pregnant or breastfeeding. For more information about donating blood, visit www.hemorio.rj.gov.br or call 0800 282 0708. Hemorio is located at Rua Frei Caneca, nº 8, in the center of Rio. Donate blood, donate life!

Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.
