Flamengo and Franca will take to the court this Tuesday (3), at 8 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, for the decisive Game 5 of the NBB semifinals . The series, marked by much balance and rivalry, reaches its final chapter with the teams tied at 2 to 2. The winner will face Minas in the grand final of the competition.

RHYTHM IS KEY, SAYS HELINHO
Helinho, Franca coach: We managed to minimize Flamengo's characteristics"

Franca coach and idol, Helinho highlighted the importance of controlling the pace of the game to overcome Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro. With eight clashes between the teams this season, he says the decision is more about execution than strategy.

“We managed to minimize Flamengo ’s characteristics. We are in the sixth or seventh game of the season against them . It’s no longer about what we are going to do, but how we are going to do it, execute, so that we can have the ball in our hands and dictate the pace. The fifth game will be evenly matched. Two strong teams, who have reached this stage of the championship. But above all, we want to play a great game, win and come back here with a guaranteed spot,” said Helinho.

FAVORABLE RETROSPECT FOR MENGÃO

Despite the words of the Franca coach, the retrospective of this season points to an advantage for Flamengo . In eight games, Rubro-Negro won five times, including expressive triumphs in the semifinals of the Super 8 Cup and the Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA), in addition to the 88-65 victory in the first round of the NBB. Franca won three times, one of which was in a match without impact on the classification.

In the NBB semifinal series, Flamengo took the lead by winning Game 1 away from home, but saw Franca draw in Rio. The red-black victory in Game 3 gave the team the chance to close the series last Sunday (1), but the São Paulo team reacted and forced Game 5 with a great performance at Pedrocão.
