Emotion took over Maracanãzinho this Thursday. On the day that Franca became three-time NBB (New Basketball Brazil) champions, Olivinha said goodbye to the courts after a long and successful career. Even though he was upset with his runner-up finish, the red-and-black idol was very emotional as he said goodbye to basketball. Applauded by the fans and revered even by opponents, the 41-year-old forward now intends to become a fan in the stands.

- It wasn't the ending I wanted. Of course I wanted to leave here as a champion. But I have nothing to complain about. It was a successful career, I was very happy wearing the shirt of this club that I am passionate about. From tomorrow, I will be another Flamengo fan. I'll be in the stands supporting the club I love, repaying all the affection I've always received from the fans" - said Olivinha.

Owner of six NBB titles, Olivinha says goodbye to basketball with the same number of achievements as Former teammate Marquinhos and Jhonatan Luz, who equaled the mark this Thursday. Created by Flamengo's academy, the now former player only regretted having said goodbye with the runner-up.

"We didn't play. well the series. Franca deserved it, that's part of the sport. We gave our best, but Franca was better than us, so we have to praise their work. Now it's time to rest with the family and enjoy this retirement "-he commented.

“This list is made up of experienced athletes who have been at the Olympic Games, by athletes who trained before the Pre-Olympic and Games. And also young people, to show the renewal process that must begin to find new faces for Los Angeles and beyond”, said the coach.

FlaBasket without games on the Qualifiers dates

Flamengo fans do not need to worry about possible absences from club matches. This is because the Brazilian team's games on November 21st and 24th do not coincide with FlaBasquete commitments. The NBB calendar will be paused, and the last Pride of the Nation game before the Qualifiers will take place on November 16th, against Franca.

The main concern is with possible injuries to the athletes called up for the National Team. The FlaBasquetegames will resume on the day November 30th, against Minas, ensuring a good amount of rest for the athletes before returning to play for the club.
