Teddy Riner, French judoka, became prominent again at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The gold medalist has a strong connection with Flamengo, a team from Brazil. The French athlete secured a medal in every Olympics he participated in. Teddy won gold in London 2012, Rio 2016 and Paris 2024.

The athlete's only defeat, who managed to go to the repechage to compete for the bronze medal, was in the last edition of the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. However, the Frenchman won the bronze medal. It is worth mentioning that the Frenchman has already come to Brazil a few times. Because of his love for the Tupiniquim country, the French judoka had a special affection for Rubro-Negro.

“The feeling is very easy, this is my city, my country. It's a pleasure when I come here. I have many memories. It's a city where I've had a lot of success,” said Riner, who was world judo champion in Rio de Janeiro at age 18, in 2007.

“I always hope to progress in my judo when I come here. Learning new things with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and participating in training with part of the Brazilian judo team”, added the athlete, who has already trained on the Rubro-Negro judo team.

“On the flight from coming (to Brazil), who came by my side? Zico! A legend of Brazilian football. But I'm from Ronaldinho's generation and I know that he played here (at Flamengo)”, he said, in 2023. “When I come here, I know that Flamengo is the best. It is the best Brazilian club in the world. It's very famous. I know this because I see a lot of shirts everywhere I go. I know it’s a great club”, said the athlete.

DECISION AT LIBERTADORES

Most Querido is focused on the confrontation against Peñarol, in the Libertadores quarter-finals. Therefore, Flamengo faces the Uruguayans this Thursday (19), at 7pm, at Maracanã.
