This past Monday (21), Volta Redonda announced the signing of former Flamengo striker Kayke, 37 years old. The player, with two spells at Mais Querido, arrives to reinforce the team following the Brasileirão Série B. He was at Figueirense and signs on loan until the end of 2025.
Kayke was developed in Flamengo's youth academy and made his professional debut in 2007, playing for a team led by Ney Franco and then Joel Santana. That year, he appeared in four Brasileirão matches but failed to score. Without opportunities, he bounced around to other clubs in Brazil and abroad.
His return to Flamengo came in 2015, after a standout season with ABC. Kayke played a more active role, serving as an attacking option with Paolo Guerrero as the main reference. The striker scored six goals in 16 Brasileirão appearances.
In early 2016, the striker was traded to Yokohama Marinos-JAP, ending his time with Flamengo. In two stints, the player appeared in 20 official matches, scoring only six goals.
