Last Thursday (20), Flamengo's Deliberative Council met to discuss with president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, several matters of interest to the club. Among the agendas, one of the main topics was the renewal of the contract of midfielder Gerson , who has been one of the pillars of the team since his return to Mais Querido in 2023.
RENEWAL PROPOSALS AND THE REPERCUSSION WITH GERSON'S AGENT
During the meeting, Bap commented on the negotiations to extend Gerson's contract, which runs until the end of 2027. However, the director made a point of mocking the stance of Marcão, the athlete's father and agent, when explaining that the initial proposal for renewal was rejected. This Monday (14), Flamengo rejected Cruzeiro's proposal to buy Matheus Gonçalves . Thus, amidst the Mais Querido's refusal, Gabigol, current center forward of the Minas Gerais team, had an unusual attitude on social media.

This past Monday (14), Flamengo presented the new executive director of the youth categories , in a press conference held at CT Ninho do Urubu. Alfredo Almeida's interview was marked by a controversial speech, which culminated in a formal apology from the professional.
UNDERSTAND THE CASE
During the press conference, Alfredo was asked about the essence of Brazilian football and the need to recapture the "magic" in developing athletes. The manager made a comparison between players from different continents, which sparked criticism on social media.
Alfredo Almeida compares players from different continents: "What the Brazilian athlete has, probably doesn't exist anywhere else in the world."
He continued: "It has to do with the gift, the magic, the irreverence, the ball being part of the body. Then, there are other areas of the globe where there are other strengths.
