In addition to the low fee, RMP pointed out that the club should have sought less damaging alternatives, such as a transfer abroad or a loan to clubs without aspirations at the top of the table: "If you don't want Matheus Gonçalves , sell him abroad. Flamengo has turned its attention to a new target in the European market. To secure a spot in the tournament's quarterfinals, the Rio de Janeiro club needs to win by two goals. If they win by just one goal, the match will be decided on penalties. This match is considered a priority by the coach and squad, who are striving to keep the club alive in all competitions this season.
Even with the momentary focus on the Copa do Brasil , the red-black fans are already mobilizing for the team's next big commitment of the season: the first leg against Internacional in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores da América.
