Preta Gil was photographed at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo on Monday night (12) to board a flight to the United States , where she will continue her cancer treatment. The day before, she gathered friends for lunch at her apartment in São Paulo to celebrate Mother's Day and enjoy the date with family before the trip.
Preta's flight was scheduled to arrive in the United States at around 5:30 a.m. Tickets on the airline chosen by the singer range from R$3,200 to almost R$27,000 for first class.
Present at the Mother's Day lunch were Fernanda Paes Leme, her friend Gominho, her ex-daughter-in-law Laura Fernandez and the singer's granddaughter, Sol de Maria. Singer Francisco Gil, Preta Gil's son, is already in the United States.
The trip to the United States is part of the new stage of Preta's oncological treatment , who has been treating bowel cancer since 2023. The artist had already revealed, during Domingão com Huck, that her chance of a cure would be outside the country. "In Brazil, we have already done everything we could. Now my chance of a cure is abroad, and that is where I am going," she said in April.
Preta had also previously revealed on Fantástico that she will undergo experimental treatment in the United States, more specifically in New York. In December of last year, the singer underwent a 21-hour surgery and had part of her digestive system and lymphatic system removed. At the time, she had six tumors removed, underwent a peritonectomy and intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
So it is only done on highly selected people, which is the case of Preta Gil.
According to oncologist Patrícia Maira Torres Costa, the artist's surgical treatment was very aggressive. "It is a very difficult surgery and we only perform it on selected patients. Let's say it is not yet part of the treatment routine. So it is only performed on highly selected people, which is the case of Preta Gil, who is physically able to perform well, and also financially able, because this treatment causes, in addition to a lot of toxicity, also malnutrition. The patient needs to be very prepared to survive it," she says.

Samba lost one of its greatest references this Friday (8): Arlindo Cruz passed away at the age of 66 in Rio de Janeiro. Recognized for his vast work with 795 registered compositions, the samba singer marked generations with hits such as “Saudade Louca” and “Boto Meu Povo na Rua” . Born in Madureira, the birthplace of Rio samba, Arlindo was also a passionate Flamengo fan.
His retirement from the stage occurred after suffering a stroke in 2017, which impacted his career and health. Family members confirmed his death, without disclosing the official cause, but emphasized the artist's cultural legacy and his love for soccer, especially for the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved). The son of Arlindão, who had meetings with samba artists like Candeia at home, Arlindo Cruz immersed himself in the musical world from an early age. Singer Milton Nascimento and record label Sony Music filed a lawsuit against Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, alleging the improper use of the song "Clube da Esquina nº 2". The work, written by Milton, Lô Borges and Márcio Borges , was allegedly used without authorization in a video posted on the club's social media in January 2025, during the announcement of Gabigol's signing from Flamengo.
