A Real Madrid standout, Vini Jr, is recovering well from a recent cervical contracture and partially participated in the club's training on Thursday (8). The Brazilian player continues to recover, but his progress in treatment has increased his chances of starting against Girona on Saturday (10).

The decision on his participation will be made the day before the game, considering the dispute for the leadership of the Spanish Championship. Coach Carlo Ancelotti will hold a press conference on Friday (9) and should speak in more depth about the match.

Shirt number 7 has been dealing with the cervical problem since last week. He was scheduled to start in the classic against Atlético de Madrid, on the 4th, but ended up being absent due to pain.

Vini Jr took to the field 20 times this season. In total, he scored 11 goals and provided four assists. Real Madrid is the current leader of the Spanish Championship, with 58 points, two more than Girona.

Next week, the merengue club, from Flamengo's Cria da Base, will do the first game of the round of 16 of the Champions League, against RB Leipzig. Real Madrid is looking for another title in the biggest competition in the world.

Two young talents revealed by Flamengo shone in Europe this Saturday (14). Goalkeeper Kauã Santos made his Bundesliga debut for Eintracht Frankfurt, helping the team to a 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg. Kauã entered the field after the experienced Kevin Trapp was injured at the end of the first half. Meanwhile, defender Léo Duarte scored his first goal in European football, securing Basaksehir's 1-0 victory over Bodrum in the Turkish league.

Kauã Santos, who arrived at Flamengo at the age of 16, he never played for the Rio club's main team. After standing out in the youth categories, the goalkeeper caught the attention of Eintracht Frankfurt, who invested R$8.4 million for 70% of his economic rights. On his debut, Kauã was unable to save a penalty taken by Baku, but held off Wolfsburg's pressure, helping to maintain his team's victory.

In turn, Léo Duarte, Copinha champion, rose to Flamengo professionals in 2016 and, little by little, established himself as a starter. In 2018, Milan, from Italy, spent 11 million euros to sign him. After a discreet spell at the Italian club, Léo transferred to Basaksehir, where he finally scored for the first time in Europe.

Léo Duarte and Kauã Santos' moment in Europe

Léo Duarte's Basaksehir occupies third place in the Turkish league with 10 points, just two less than leader Galatasaray. Kauã Santos' Eintracht Frankfurt is in sixth place in the Bundesliga, with six points, three behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Last Tuesday (10), before the clash between Paraguay and Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers, former Flamengo player, Orlando Berrío, made a special visit to the Brazilian team's concentration in Asunción. In the hotel lobby, the Colombian striker met old colleagues from his time at Rubro-Negro, including Vini Jr., Lucas Paquetá, former defender Juan and coach Dorival Júnior, who led him at CRF in 2018.

Currently defending Tacuary, from Paraguay, Berrío took the opportunity to talk to friends and former teammates from his career at Mais Querido. In addition to the players, he also met with Rodrigo Caetano, Director of National Teams at CBF, who held a similar position at Flamengo during the period in which the striker wore the red-black shirt. The Colombian recorded the moment on his Instagram account, where Vini Jr., Paquetá and Juan left comments.

PASSAGE AT FLAMENGO MARKED BY TITLES AND INJURIES

Berrío arrived at Flamengo at the beginning of 2017, after standing out at Atlético Nacional (COL), where he won the Copa Libertadores in 2016. At the time, the Rio club spent around R$11 million to sign the player. Although his time was marked by injuries, the striker accumulated important titles, including the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Libertadores, both in 2019.

In total, the Colombian played 81 matches for Mengão, with 48 wins, 21 draws and 12 defeats. Berrío found the net seven times and contributed nine assists during his time at the club. He also played for América-MG, in 2021, before moving on to Paraguayan football.

HISTORICAL DRIBLE IN THE 2017 BRAZILIAN CUPDespite his injuries, Orlando Berrío is remembered for one of the most emblematic moments of his time at Flamengo: his spectacular dribble over Botafogo defender Victor Luís in the 2017 Copa do Brasil semi-final. After the move, the Colombian crossed the ball to Diego, who scored the goal that guaranteed Mengão in the final of the competition.
