Palmeiras beat São Bernardo 1-0 this Thursday (15), in the Campeonato Paulista, and coach Abel Ferreira proposed a debate on Brazilian football topics. Jorge Jesus, coach who made history at Flamengo, and the pressure from the fans on the players, citing Pedro as an example, were some of the topics at the press conference.
Abel stated that his success in Brazil, with nine titles in four seasons for Palmeiras, is linked to the historic passage of his compatriot. Jesus marked his time at Mengão by putting together a team that presented the best football on the continent in the century and winning the Libertadores and Brasileiro in 2019, as well as three other titles.

“If I'm here it's because another coach ventured across Europe and was successful , which is (José) Mourinho, and opened doors for others. There was another who crossed the Atlantic to come to Brazil when no one wanted to. And he said wonderful things, which is Jorge Jesus, who opened doors for me, for example. Others came. The competence of coaches has no nationality”

Then, the Portuguese coach criticized the lack of patience and pressure that Brazilian fans exert on the players when commenting on Flaco López's good moment. Abel cited Flamengo fans booing Pedro, the club's idol, to reinforce the “very high demand” that there is in Brazilian football.

“Fortunately, our players know what we work for at the club. And they know how to deal with the 8 or 80 of Brazilian football. Borja did nothing here, completely crushed by our fans. He's doing well in River. Between others. Pedro was booed at Flamengo, Hulk at Atlético. The demand here is very high”, concluded the Palmeiras coach.

Tite also commented on pressure from fans in Brazilian football

The way in which pressure affects players' performance was also a topic from coach Tite's press conference. After Flamengo's victory over Bangu, this Thursday (15), he spoke about the process of building a team and the need to teach young people that it is possible to win without “appealing”. On the other hand, he said he was aware that he would only remain at Mengão in the event of titles and he treated it naturally.

“Not only because of the greatness of the team, but because of the behavior he has and passes on to the kids to know that, To win in football, you don't need to be sent off, leave your leg, appeal. Just play and be better. I like a disciplined team. And this whole process is one of construction that we go through outside of football, of the need to win, of Flamengo's greatness, my position I will only keep if I win and become champion. All of this linked to the aspect of the way of playing. A team that likes the ball and competes fairly.”

In the search “Pulso do Torcedor ” carried out by Atlas Intel, coach Tite, from Flamengo, as the second best coach among the clubs in Series A of the Brazilian Championship. Only Abel Ferreira, from Palmeiras, was ahead of the red and black team in the survey carried out by the analysis institute.

The responses pointed to the current two-time Brazilian champion Abel Ferreira as the favorite by 27.9%. Tite, from Flamengo, came in second place, cited by 18.6% of those interviewed. The top 3 still has Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who has been at Fortaleza for three years and in second place in the Brasileirão, with 9.1%. Completing the top-5 are Botafogo coach Artur Jorge, mentioned by 8.1%, and Fernando Seabra, from Cruzeiro, with 7.2%.

Tite was mentioned by 47.5% of fans of Flamengo as the best coach in Brazil - a much lower percentage than the Cruzeirenses' preference for Fernando Seabra (72.6% of Raposa fans voted for him) or Grêmio idol Renato Gaúcho, who was chosen by more than half of the fans from Grêmio (51.1%). The coach with the greatest approval from fans is Argentine Vojvoda, from Fortaleza, chosen by 96.3% of Leão do Pici fans.

The Atlas survey collects information organically during routine internet browsing - on smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers. According to the research institute, this method has two advantages: it addresses several sources of bias and deals with the possible over- or under-representation of demographic groups.
