This Thursday (08), the Sports Attorney's Office denounced Botafogo for hostile acts by fans in the match against Palmeiras, which took place in July. On the occasion, some criminals hung dolls with the faces of the president of Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, and the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues. Because of this act, the black and white club can be punished with the loss of up to ten field orders, in addition to a fine ranging from R$ 100 to R$ 100 thousand.
The Supreme Court of Sports Justice (STJD) has not yet set a date to judge the complaint, but the expectation is that the case will be evaluated by the end of next week. The incident that led to the complaint occurred before the match between Botafogo and Palmeiras, valid for the 17th round of the Brasileirão, on July 17, at the Nilton Santos Stadium. On that occasion, unidentified fans hung hanging dolls in an area close to the section designated for visiting fans, generating great repercussions. According to the Military Police, the dolls were removed three hours before the start of the match, but the impact of the act was enough to trigger the investigation and the prosecution's complaint.
The Public Prosecutor's Office argues that the act was intended to incite violence between Botafogo and Palmeiras fans, highlighting that messages published on social media reinforced the hostile atmosphere, suggesting that Palmeiras fans were not welcome in Rio of January. “The videos and journalistic articles included in the files do not give rise to doubts regarding the regrettable events that occurred before the start of the match between Botafogo and Palmeiras, with the sole intention of inciting violence against the President of the CBF and the representative of Palmeiras”, stated the Prosecutor's Office in the complaint.
Although Botafogo issued an official note repudiating the act, the complaint points out that the club did not prove that it had taken effective measures to identify and punish those responsible. For this reason, the club was denounced based on article 213, Item I, §1º, of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD), which provides for punishment with loss of field command when there are highly serious disorders that could harm progress. of a sporting event.
The confrontation between Flamengo and Botafogo continues, for now, scheduled for the Nilton Santos Stadium, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) on the 18th of August.
