After more than a month waiting for the opportunity, finally, Léo Ortiz debuted with the Flamengo shirt. On Wednesday (10), the defender not only helped the team keep a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over Palestino (CHI), but also left his own mark in attack. After the match, Arrascaeta praised the defender.

“Rating 10, rating 10. Only for ace. Congratulations to him. It helped the team a lot, very safe back there, now it’s time to keep working for the team to improve”, said Arrascaeta, still on the Maracanã lawn, after Mengão’s first triumph in the Libertadores 2024.

Despite being a defender , Léo Ortiz was the second player with the most shots in the match against Palestino, with four. Furthermore, the number 3 completed 89% of his passes, won four of six aerial duels, recovered three balls, made three cuts, did not suffer any dribbles or commit a foul. Finally, he was awarded a goal in the 40th minute of the second half, supporting Lorran's cross.

Léo Ortiz gained an opportunity to replace Fabrício Bruno, who was rested after a series of games for Flamengo and the Brazilian team. The defender hired at the beginning of March took a while to debut, according to Tite, due to the need to adapt to the red and black group. Now, the number 3 awaits new chances, especially with the tight schedule that the team will have in the coming weeks, with the first game in the Brazilian Championship.

Until the end of April, Flamengo will have consecutive games in the middle and weekends. The next one will be on Sunday (14), against Atlético-GO. Later, Tite's team faces two opponents from São Paulo, São Paulo (17) and Palmeiras (21). The return of the Libertadores is scheduled for 04/24, against Bolívar (BOL), at the altitude of La Paz. Finally, Mais Querido will play the classic against Botafogo, on 04/28.
