0Flamengo continues to reinforce its basketball team for next season. This Thursday (08), the club announced the signing of Argentine center Taya Gallizzi, who arrives at the ‘Pride of the Nation’ after standing out at Quilmes, in Argentina. The 31-year-old player brings with him a vast experience in South American basketball and will be a fundamental piece for the red-black team in the 2024-2025 season.
When commenting on the deal with Flamengo, Gallizzi expressed his excitement about wearing the club's shirt. “First of all, I want to thank you for the opportunity to represent a club as big as Flamengo, for being able to defend these colors. I hope that together we have a great season, see you soon, Nation”, declared the pivot, who now joins the red and black squad to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Taya Gallizzi has an established career in Argentine basketball, where he started at Unión Progresista before moving to Quilmes, where he played for 11 seasons. In addition to his performance at clubs, Gallizzi is an important name in the Argentine National Team, having won the gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. His arrival at Flamengo is seen as a great reinforcement for the team, which seeks to remain competitive in the main competitions of the season.
With the signing of Gallizzi, Flamengo reaches the ninth name confirmed for the 2024-2025 season. The red and black squad already has other prominent players, such as Franco Balbi, Alexey Borges, Shaq Johnson, Jordan Williams, Jhonatan Luz, Kayo Gonçalves and Lucas Siewert. Furthermore, Gui Deodato renewed his contract, further strengthening the team's base for the upcoming challenges.
Flamengo is preparing for an intense basketball calendar. The team will begin the season competing in the Campeonato Carioca, followed by the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), the Champions League of the Americas and, possibly, the Copa Super 8, depending on performance in the first round of the national league. The expectation is that the red and black team will be up to the competition, maintaining its tradition of achievements in Brazilian and international basketball.

0Portugal continues to be a popular destination for young talents trained in Flamengo's youth teams. With the recent signing of Igor Jesus by Estrela Amadora, the number of players trained by Rubro-Negro who will play in the Primeira Liga and Liga Portugal 2 in the 2024/25 season has reached ten.
Crias do Flamengo in Portugal
The majority of these players, six in total, left Flamengo between 2023 and 2024. They are athletes who exceeded or were close to the under-20 age limit and found few opportunities in the main team. In search of playing time and visibility in a European league, these young people are taking advantage of their chances at Portuguese clubs.
Estrela Amadora, in particular, has been a frequent destination for Garotos do Ninho. After André Luiz's arrival in 2023, the Portuguese club continued to invest in Flamengo talent, signing Daniel Cabral, Petterson and, more recently, Igor Jesus.
Another club that has been recruiting Flamengo players is Leixões, who signed Werton and Gabriel Noga in 2024. Among those who stand out is defender Otávio, who made his move to Porto after a successful spell at Famalicão, becoming the biggest sale of a defender in the history of the Championship Portuguese.
In addition to these young players, three more experienced players are also playing in Portugal: Gabriel Batista and Rafael Santos, both at Santa Clara, and goalkeeper Thiago, who plays for Arouca FC.
