When De La Cruz arrived, Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president of football, made clear the club's priority positions in the market. The director highlighted that the left-back and defense are the focus, due to the departure of Filipe Luís, who retired, and Rodrigo Caio. In this sense, Santos defender Joaquim is on the radar.

In addition, two other European clubs are keeping an eye on the 25-year-old defender. They are Sporting, from Portugal, and also Olympiacos, from Greece, according to the 'ge' portal.

Santos counts on the athlete to compete in the Campeonato Paulista and Série B of the Brasileirão. On December 28th, Peixe issued a note announcing the athlete's stay for the new season.

However, the red and black interest pleased the athlete, who welcomes a transfer to the Rio de Janeiro club. The athlete, in fact, understands that playing for Rubro-Negro can increase the possibility of a call-up to the Brazilian National Team. In addition to him, Flamengo also  is interested in Léo Ortiz, from Red Bull Bragantino, however the negotiation is still far from a solution.

The financial issue could weigh heavily if a concrete proposal for the player emerges. The president of Santos, however, reiterates that he does not intend to negotiate the defensive starter at the start of the season.

According to O globo, 9last weekend a photo of Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol, caused a stir on social media and among fans. Flamengo he was photographed wearing a Corinthians shirt, which generated a wave of comments and reactions on the internet. Among the many who could have given their opinion on the episode, Zico, one of the greatest legends of Brazilian football and Flamengo's eternal idol, preferred to stay away from the controversy.

When asked about the incident, Galinho de Quintino was direct and concise : "No chance." This was Zico's only response, clearly indicating that he did not want to get involved in the discussion or give his opinion on the situation that has taken over football fans' conversations in recent days.

A SILENT IDOL  < /b>

Zico's silence can be interpreted in several ways. For some, it is a sign of respect for Gabigol's privacy and the complexity that situations like this can involve. For others, it is a wise strategy to avoid getting involved in controversies that can divert the focus from what really matters in sport: performance on the field.

Gabigol, in turn, has not yet commented on the photo. The image quickly went viral, with Flamengo fans expressing surprise and, in some cases, disappointment. Corinthians fans, naturally, celebrated the situation, albeit momentarily.

On social media, the discussion was intense. Many fans remembered that football players, like anyone else, are entitled to personal tastes and preferences that do not necessarily affect their professionalism or their performance at work. Others, however, see Gabigol's attitude as a lack of respect for the club and its fans.9

MEET JOAQUIM: SANTOS ZAGUEIRO, FLAMENGO TARGET AND POSSIBLE OPTION FOR LÉO ORTIZ

The defender entered Mais Querido's radar and could be an option for the Bragantino defender

Flamengo continues trying to sign Léo Ortiz, however, every day they see a distance between Red Bull Bragantino's request and the value offered to the defender. In this way, the Rubro Negro board has targeted other defenders in Brazilian football, such as Joaquim, from Santos, as an option to reinforce the defense.

Even with Santos' fall to Series B, Joaquim had good numbers last season . In the second round of the Brasileirão, the defender stood out in several aspects among the 556 players in the competition. Furthermore, he was first in defensive actions (125) and interceptions (24) and second in assists (4), cuts (62), aerial duels won (54), efficiency in duels (70%). His rating on the SofaScore statistics portal is 7.42.

Joaquim is 25 years old and had a season with 39 matches (all as a starter), with two goals and four assists. After a good season individually, the defender entered the sights of European clubs, however, so far, he has accepted a salary reduction to compete in Series B with Santos.

ANOTHER SANTOS DEFENDER IN THE SIGHTS

According to information from journalist Ademir Quintino, in addition to Joaquim, João Basso, also from Santos, is in Rubro Negro's sights. The defender arrived at Peixe in July for 2.5 million euros from Arouca, from Portugal. The contract runs until 2026 and is another one that depends on a salary reduction to remain at the club.

João Basso is 26 years old and before playing for Arouca (POR), and Santos, he played for Estoril and Real SC, both in Portugal, and Paraná. The defender already partnered with Joaquim last season, when the Santos team was still in Série A.
