In addition to the new notice, the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro made available to those interested in the exploration and use of Maracanã for the next 20 years several obligations for competitors. The main one promises to be the renovation of the roof.

Among the guidelines for mandatory interventions at the stadium and also at Maracanãzinho are a complete inspection and correction of defects in the roof of both equipment. As was announced in March this year, a study carried out by a specialized company highlighted problems in the conservation of the canvas that covers 96% of the stadium.

The study carried out in 2021 was the first more detailed one since the work was handed over, a few years ago. 10 years. In the words of the 261-page report, maintenance "was practically non-existent over the 7 years since the work was completed." Among the irregularities found more than two years ago, there were 285 pins with oxidation problems and 465 holes in the roof membrane, caused by fireworks at the 2016 Olympics.

Other mandatory changes are required to be carried out of the stadium's first painting ten years after its reopening for the 2013 Confederations Cup. The Government points out in the notice documents that "after 9 years (the stadium) has not yet undergone any internal painting, such as bathrooms, operating rooms, corridors circulation, etc. and externally, the problem being most visible in the monumental ramps and upper vaults".

There are other points of repair, renovation and improvements pointed out to the future concessionaire. For example, the installation of a new partition between fans, with a glass model to eliminate blind spots in the stadium.
