Due to the late games of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo did not take the field this weekend in the Brasileirão Série A. Internacional, the team's opponent in this round, was involved in the knockout stage, resulting in a forced break for Mengão. Flamengo will only return to the field next weekend.
On the afternoon of next Saturday (20), at 4pm, Flamengo will face Criciúma in the 18th round of the Brasileirão Série A, at home. Mengão is fighting at the top of the table, seeking to consolidate its position among the leaders of the competition. The game promises to be important for the club's aspirations in the championship.
Currently, Flamengo occupies third place in the Brasileirão table, with 31 points. The team's campaign is nine wins, four draws and three defeats. The team hopes to continue its good form and add three more points to maintain pressure on the championship leaders.
With the end of the Copa América, four Flamengo players are returning to the club: right-back Varela , left-back Viña, and midfielders Arrascaeta and De La Cruz. Among them, Viña's physical condition is raising concerns in Rubro-Negro. The left-back had problems during the Copa América that caught the attention of the club's medical department.
Behind the scenes, there is an alert about Viña's physical situation. During the Copa América, he faced physical problems that worried the coach of the Uruguayan national team, Marcelo Bielsa. These physical issues are a cause for concern for Flamengo, especially as Viña is an important starter in the team's defense.
Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Viña did not suffer a muscle injury, but had a tear in the back of the muscle , which may be indicative of an imminent injury. “With Viña there was no muscle injury. There was exhaustion in the back part of the muscle, which could be prior to an injury”, said Bielsa, highlighting the need to monitor the player's condition.
Flamengo is paying attention to Viña's recovery, knowing the importance of his role on the team. With the return of players who were at Copa América, the club hopes to strengthen its squad for the Brasileirão sequence and for future challenges in the season.
