One of the captains of Flamengo's current squad, Arrascaeta is in the sights of other clubs in the mid-year transfer window. One of those interested is Cruz Azul, from Mexico. The team is considering sending a proposal to the 29-year-old Uruguayan. Regarding the interest, a leader from the Mexican representation spoke about the desire to have Mengão's number 14.

"I'm not going to 'invent' Giorgian de Arrascaeta as a player. He is historic and captain of Flamengo. I think any athletic director you ask, few would say they're not interested. From then until it can happen, many things happen in between. I neither confirm nor deny, and I speak to you as a former player and as a fan of good football. Who wouldn't want to have De Arrascaeta on their team", said Ivan Alonso, technical director of Cruz Azul.

According to the Mexican press, Cruz Azul is one of the Latin teams with the biggest investment in the squad in 2024. According to local newspapers, the club spent 40 million euros (approximately R$220 million). In other words, the financial issue would not be a problem for the Mexicans.

However, Arrascaeta's termination fine is high: 50 million euros (around R$267 .6 million) and a contract valid until December 2026. According to 'Jornal O Globo', Cruz Azul plans to send a proposal between 15 and 20 million euros (between R$82 and R$108 million at the current price). At this moment, Flamengo has no intention of getting rid of the midfielder.

Absence against Bragantino and Palestino (CHI), due to a muscle injury, Arrascaeta has a good chance of being on the field next Saturday (11), when Flamengo faces Corinthians, in the sixth round of the Brasileirão.

The young right-back Wesley, from Flamengo, is in the sights of European clubs who see great potential in the player. According to information from journalist Julio Miguel Neto, several teams from the old continent are interested in a loan from Wesley, with the option to purchase at the end of the contract.

These European clubs are keeping an eye on the young man's talent athlete and believe he could adapt quickly to European football. However, Flamengo has no plans to release Wesley at this time. The absence of Varela, who will be away due to the Copa América dispute, makes Wesley's presence even more crucial for the Rio team.

FLAMENGO HAS A NEW JOB FOR WESLEY

The stance from Flamengo is clear: Wesley will only leave the club if a purchase proposal appears that he cannot refuse. Until that happens, the right-back will continue defending the red and black colors.

The Flamengo coach plans to give Wesley more opportunities in the next games. This means the player will have more time on the field and will be able to show his full potential. The expectation is that he will increasingly establish himself as an important piece in the starting team.

In this Thursday's match (13) against Grêmio, Flamengo will have a bench full of young talents. The decision, in line with coach Tite's strategy, aims to harness and develop the potential of the club's youth players. Among the new additions are Dyogo Alves, a 20-year-old goalkeeper, and defenders Iago and Carbone, both 19 years old. In addition to them, midfielder Rayan Lucas, also 19 years old, and striker Werton, 20 years old, complete the list of young promises. Everton Araújo, a 21-year-old midfielder, had already been mentioned by Tite and remains on the squad list.

This renewal in the squad reflects a growing trend in Brazilian football: the focus on emerging talents who could become protagonists in the future. Flamengo, known for its strong base, has reaped rewards by integrating these young athletes into the main team. The game against Grêmio will be an important opportunity for these players to show their value and gain experience on the field.

FLAMENGO GIVES YOUNG PEOPLE OPPORTUNITIES

Historically, Flamengohas always had a strong base, with players who often stand out on the national and international scene. The inclusion of young people like Dyogo Alves, Iago, Carbone, Rayan Lucas and Werton in the list of players listed for the match is a clear indication of the confidence that the club places in its base.

Dyogo Alves, for example, is a promising 20-year-old goalkeeper who has been closely watched by the coaching staff. Iago and Carbone, both 19-year-old defenders, have demonstrated consistency and potential at youth level. Rayan Lucas, a 19-year-old midfielder, and Werton, a 20-year-old striker, also stand out for their skill and ability to contribute offensively.

Four Flamengo players arrived in the United States this Sunday (09), focusing on the Copa América. The quartet formed by Arrascaeta, De La Cruz, Varela and Viña arrived on American soil to reinforce the preparation of the Uruguayan National Team.

Uruguay divided the squad called up for the Copa América into two groups. Thus, one part stayed in the United States for a friendly against Mexico last week and the other used the National Team's CT in Montevideo to start activities. The four Flamengo players were in the Uruguayan capital before heading to the North American country.

Arrascaeta, De La Cruz, Varela and Viña arrived in Miami in the early afternoon and have already met with the Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa at the hotel where the Uruguayan National Team is staying. Therefore, Flamengo's four players are now fully committed to Uruguay for the Copa América.

The quartet left Brazil last Monday (03), heading to Montevideo. This is because the four players trained on physical and technical issues at the local team's CT. However, with their arrival in the United States, the Red and Blacks now begin tactical work with Marcelo Bielsa.

It is worth remembering that the Copa América takes place between June 20th and July 14th. Uruguay of Arrascaeta, De La Cruz, Varela and Viña is in Group C, alongside the United States, Panama and Bolivia. Erick Pulgar's Chile occupies Group A, alongside Argentina, Peru and Canada. Without Flamengo representatives, Brazil is in Group D, along with Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica.
