Before Shabab Al-Ahli, PS was training Salernitana, from Italy

Without a club for eight months, Portuguese Paulo Sousa, ex-Flamengo, is back in action. The coach was announced as the new coach of Shabab Al-Ahli, from the city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Paulo will lead three athletes who played for Mengão: Yuri César, Guilherme Bala and Mateusão. The last one mentioned even worked with PS in Gávea.
Before Shabab Al-Ahli, Paulo Sousa was coaching Salernitana, from Italy, where he managed to avoid relegation two seasons ago. But in the last year, his results were below expectations, which resulted in his dismissal. Local runner-up last year, Shabab Al-Ahli believes that with Paulo Sousa they will return to the path of victory.
It will be Paulo Sousa's eleventh experience away from Portugal. In addition to Brazil, the country in which he trained Flamengo, the coach worked in England, Wales, Hungary, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, China, France and Poland, where he was coach of the national team.
Paulo Sousa was announced as Flamengo's new coach on December 29, 2021. Upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro, he praised the team's squad. Mais Querido, stating that he was the best on the continent. As signings, he gained defender Pablo, striker Marinho and left-back Ayrton Lucas
But in practice, the Portuguese was unable to make Rubro-Negro have great performances. The runner-up in the Super Cup against Atlético-MG and Carioca against Fluminense made the atmosphere even worse in Gávea. The last straw was the terrible start of the Brazilian Championship, with one of the most expensive teams in Brazil trying to escape the relegation zone. Flamengo paid a fine of R$7.7 million to fire Paulo Sousa.
The striker has been speculated on by several teams, but prioritizes renewal with Mais Querido

The subject of renewing Gabigol's link with Flamengocontinues to give something to talk about. Therefore, the Gazeta do Urubu portal sought out more information about the attacker's relationship with Rubro-Negro, through journalist Pablo Raphael, who found out what the number 99's desire for Mais Querido was.
According to some sources, Gabigol wants to remain at Flamengo and still believes that Mais Querido will renew his contract. Furthermore, it is his manager who wants to remove him from Rubro-Negro, as the player has not had space in the team.
RIFFRE WITH THE BOARD AND DESIRE TO REMAIN AT FLAMENGOFurthermore, Gabigol has a big feud with the Red and Black board, who are not afraid to publicly show their dissatisfaction with the attacker. Rodolfo Landim does not want the player to remain in the long term, as he is not showing high performance. Therefore, a short contract model was suggested, 1 year of contract plus salary adjustment, which left the athlete upset, as he expected a longer contract.
Even though he was no longer "loved" by the board, Gabriel will talk to Mais Querido's directors once again this week, as his managers want the athlete's situation to be defined as quickly as possible.
So, if Flamengo only offered him a 2-year contract , Gabigol would be willing to accept, as the number 99 does not want to leave the club through the back doors. The reason the player was cut from the match against Cruzeiro was in retaliation for the statements made by Júnior Pedroso, his manager.
Player could be a reinforcement for Mais Querido in Curitiba

If the situation was already worrying before, now it has become even more complicated for Flamengo. When taking the field against Grêmio, the team was missing seven players who had been playing frequently, due to injuries and call-ups for the Copa América.
Ayrton Lucas and Allan were left out due to injuries, while Pulgar, Varela, Viña, De La Cruz and Arrascaeta were called up to defend their teams in the Copa América.
In addition to these absences, Carlinhos, who participated in just two games and has not yet established himself as an option on the bench, was also not included due to physical reasons, as reported by coach Tite.
POSSIBLE RETURNS AND NEW LOSS
Flamengo will evaluate this Friday (14) whether Ayrton Lucas will be able to play against Athletico-PR next Sunday. The coaching staff is optimistic about the full-back’s return. However, Allan, Igor Jesus and Everton Cebolinha are expected to be absent from the team in the next duel. As a result, Rubro-Negro must face an even more depleted Athletico-PR, with eight confirmed casualties.
In the first half of the match, Flamengo lost Everton Cebolinha, with an injury to the anterior muscle of his right thigh, and Igor Jesus, with a sprained left ankle. The steering wheel injury must be even more serious.
Despite having started treatment in the locker room, Cebolinha and Igor Jesus, who will undergo due to medical examinations in the coming days, they should not be included in next Sunday's clash against Athletico-PR.
On the other hand, there is the expectation that Ayrton Lucas could be included again for the match. The player had already returned to training with the ball, but was unable to be 100% ready to face Grêmio.
Flamengo faces Athletico-PR next Sunday (16), at 4pm, at Ligga Arena, in the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship. The team seeks to overcome the adversities of absences to maintain the provisional leadership of the championship.
