In a press conference this Friday (8), Flamengo's vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, spoke about Gabigol, a Flamengo idol who remains in an undefined situation at the club. At the presentation of defender Léo Ortiz, the new Rubro-Negro reinforcement, the director was asked about the topic, but adopted caution and said that everything will be resolved at the right time.

"Regarding the renewal, I can say that will be resolved at the right time, at the most appropriate moment. You can be sure that it will soon be resolved on one side or the other. Furthermore, Gabriel has always had a good relationship with the commission, with us. In specific moments , after so long at the club, he could have one situation or another. He keeps his schedule, he fulfills his duties, he doesn't have any kind of problem with Gabriel here", said the director.

The striker only has a contract with the club until December this year. In other words: when there are six months left until the end of the contract, the number 10 will be able to sign a pre-contract for free with any other team.

Gabigol has been at Flamengo since 2019 and his name is marked in history of the club with decisive goals and many titles, but, in fact, he is not going through a good moment. At the beginning of the year, his name was widely speculated at Corinthians.

After the Guanabara Cup title, the president of Rubro-Negro, Rodolfo Landim, guaranteed that the striker will fulfill his contract until the end of the season , and does not plan to get rid of the athlete in 2024.

The 2024 season is being a milestone in Flamengo's history, not only due to its results in competitions, but also due to administrative and structural advances. One of the biggest dreams of red and black fans is getting closer to becoming reality: the construction of the club's own stadium. Flamengo made official the purchase of the Gasologista land, in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro, which will house the future home of Mais Querido.

The acquisition of the Gasologista land is considered one of the greatest achievements of the current administration. The purchase makes it possible to fulfill fans' long-standing desire and promises to transform the club in financial and structural terms, enabling greater autonomy for holding matches and events. With this initiative, Flamengo is moving forward in consolidating its own stadium, something that has been discussed for years.

RODOLFO LANDIM AT FLAMENGO IN 2025

In addition to structural advances, Rodolfo Landim's tenure, which ends at the end of 2024, is marked by achievements both on and off the pitch. However, the club's current president should continue to play an important role at Flamengo in the coming years.

According to information from the newspaper O Globo, Rodrigo Dunshee, current general and legal vice-president of Flamengo, and likely candidate for the club's presidency, plans to announce that Rodolfo Landim will occupy the position of CEO in 2025, if he wins the elections. With this, Landim will remain directly involved in the administration of Flamengo for another three years.

SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT

During his management, Rodolfo Landim was responsible for Flamengo's significant victories, including national and international titles. In addition to sporting successes, the management stood out for its modernization initiatives and financial growth of the club, which culminated in the purchase of land for the stadium and administrative reorganization.

Flamengo continues to wait for the return of Arrascaeta, who has been sidelined since August 18th, when he suffered an injury to his left thigh. The number 14 is being monitored by the club's Medical Department and his return to the field is still uncertain for the decisive clash against Bahia, valid for the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The game will take place on September 12th, at 9:45 pm, at Maracanã.

Arrascaeta has not yet started the transition phase to the field, remaining under the care of Flamengo's medical department. With less than a week to go until the match, the club is racing against time to count on the return of the Uruguayan star. According to journalist Venê Casagrande, the player is in the final stage of recovery and there is an expectation that he will begin the physical transition next Monday (09).

IMPACT OF INJURIES IN THE SECOND HALF

An undisputed starter at Flamengo and frequently called up for the Uruguayan national team, Arrascaeta has faced physical problems throughout the seasons, especially in the second half, when the calendar becomes more intense. Since 2019, the midfielder has suffered 70% of his injuries after June, totaling 20 absences for Flamengo, 14 of them from that period.

FLAMENGO ADVANTAGE IN THE BRAZILIAN CUP

In the first match of the quarter-finals against Bahia, Flamengo won 1-0 away from home, with a goal from Bruno Henrique. With this result, Rubro-Negro can even draw at Maracanã to guarantee their place in the tournament's semifinals. The team hopes to count on Arrascaeta, but is also preparing alternatives to make up for his possible absence.

FLAMENGO LIKELY TO FACE BAHIA

Flamengo still has some doubts for the clash, but the likely lineup has names like: Rossi, Wesley (Varela), Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira, Ayrton Lucas, Pulgar (Léo Ortiz), Allan, Gerson, Luiz Araújo, Bruno Henrique and Gabigol (Arrascaeta).

On Thursday afternoon (5), Flamengo officially presented left-back Alex Sandro, at Ninho do Urubu. The signing of the experienced player aims to strengthen the red and black squad after the injury to Matías Viña, which will leave the team missing for a long period. In addition to Alex Sandro, Flamengo brought in other important reinforcements in this transfer window, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Gonzalo Plata and Michael, with the aim of maintaining a competitive level in all competitions.

FLAMENGO WILL NOT PRIORITIZE COMPETITIONS, SAYS SPINDEL

During the press conference that followed Alex Sandro's presentation, Bruno Spindel, Flamengo's executive director of football, spoke about the club's stance in relation to the tight calendar and the competitions remaining in the season. When asked whether Flamengo would prioritize any specific tournament, Spindel was emphatic in stating that the team will not make distinctions between competitions.

“Flamengo does not prioritize competitions. The serious injuries to Viña and Cebolinha alerted us to the stress that the calendar is imposing on our athletes. Our goal is to win all the tournaments we are playing in, and that means fighting for each title, whether in the Brazilian Championship, the Copa do Brasil or the Libertadores”, declared Spindel.

< p>TIGHT SCHEDULE AND CALL-UPS TEAR OUT THE CAST

The director also highlighted the impact that the calendar and call-ups for the Copa América had on the physical wear and tear on the squad. According to Spindel, Flamengo had between five and six players called up, which required greater squad rotation and caused an accumulation of games for some athletes.

"People forget that during the Copa América, many of our players were with their teams. This increases the wear and tear on those who remain and also harms the squad's planning. In addition to the replacements we have already made, we brought in new athletes, such as Alex Sandro, to ensure that Flamengo remains competitive on all fronts", he explained. .

MORE OPTIONS FOR TITE WITH REINFORCEMENTS

Spindel mentioned that the recent signings aim to expand the options from coach Tite, allowing greater flexibility in the lineup and team rotation. "Our focus is to give Tite alternatives during the games, with a squad strong enough to compete in all competitions. We brought four reinforcements, and we believe that they will help us maintain the high level on the field", said the director.

The decision not to prioritize competitions, according to Spindel, is part of the club's institutional policy. “Flamengo’s premise is to compete on all fronts. The coach always puts the best team available on the field, taking into account the wear and tear of the players. The squad's commitment is total, even when functions on the field need to be adjusted due to the demands of the calendar,” he concluded.
