Boston Celtics point guard and current NBA champion Jaylen Brown was asked about someone he admires and didn't hesitate to mention Vini Jr. , a star revealed by Flamengo and a standout at Real Madrid .
"Someone I look up to? A good friend of mine is Vini Jr. He doesn't speak English that well, but this summer I got to go to Brazil , experience his culture and what it's like to be him. He plays in Madrid and has a lot of the same issues that happen in the United States around racism and things like that. For him to come from Brazil and be able to represent not only his country, but South America as well... and I think he's doing it with class," Brown said.
Visit to Brazil and friendship with Vini Jr.
In July 2023, Jaylen Brown was in Rio de Janeiro to participate in the charity auction for Vinicius Jr., held at the Copacabana Palace. During the event, the Celtics player spoke about his friendship with the Brazilian forward.
"This is my first time in Rio. Vini and I became friends because we have a similar desire to try to help our community and we advocate for the same causes. I'm happy my brother invited me to come. I love seeing guys doing great things in their communities and trying to make the world a better place. It's the same thing I'm trying to do in the United States , in Boston. Who knows, maybe one day Vini will come to Boston so we can celebrate together too," Brown told CazéTV.
Meeting in the NBA with Vini Jr.
Last NBA season, Jaylen Brown and Vinicius Junior met during the classic between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers . On that occasion, the Brazilian exchanged jerseys with Brown and also with stars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis .
Vini Jr.'s next game
Vini Jr. takes to the field this Tuesday (24), at 9 pm, in the classic between Brazil and Argentina , at the Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires.

Officially unveiled this Monday wearing the number 15 jersey, Jorge Carrascal arrived at the club with high expectations. Coming from Dynamo Moscow, the Colombian was considered a potential replacement for Arrascaeta , but he refuted the idea of a rivalry with the Uruguayan, a regular starter since 2019. In his first interview, Carrascal emphasized the importance of teamwork.
" It's not about competition, that I will be his replacement , that I will not be his replacement. I came to Flamengo with the purpose of working, of competing, of trying to achieve the best for the club, the clear objectives that it has in the short term this season," the player declared.
Besides rejecting any kind of competition for position, Carrascal praised his teammate's quality. " Arrascaeta has a unique game. He's a great player. We've known Arrascaeta for many years, based on his abilities. He's a different player," he stated.
Carrascal wants to show his versatility at Flamengo: "Position is not a problem"
Demonstrating commitment, the midfielder also highlighted his tactical versatility, showing a willingness to play in different areas of the field, depending on the coach's needs. " I really enjoy moving around the field , I try to make whatever the coach asks of me work. In the middle, on the outside, as a number eight. Position isn't a problem. I'll try to do my best," he added.
Carrascal hasn't played an official match since May 24th, when he left the Russian club. However, the athlete stated that he maintained his physical preparation during the vacation period. Flamengo 's staff also expresses confidence in his athletic condition, which should accelerate his integration into the main squad in upcoming matches.

Flamengo hosts Mirassol on August 9th, at 6:30 pm , at Maracanã, for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship . The expectation is a full house, and the club has already made available detailed information about ticket sales for the match, which starts this Sunday (4).
Fan club members have early access and exclusive pricing, depending on their plan and star rating. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on August 6th at 10 a.m. on the club's official platform. Sales at physical locations and in-person pickup of free tickets will begin on the 7th on Flamengo's official website.
Expecting a large crowd at Maracanã, Flamengo is banking on the strength of the nation to remain firmly in the fight for the top spots in the Brasileirão. Mengão leads the championship with 37 points.
Even with Mengão's desire to repatriate the midfielder, the player is showing signs that he intends to stay in Europe, while West Ham is stipulating a millionaire value.

To cap off a busy transfer window led by José Boto, Flamengo is still dreaming of the return of Lucas Paquetá. A product of the club's youth academy, the player has a strong connection with the club, which is seeking to emotionally connect him with a potential return to Rio de Janeiro.
However, the path to this goal isn't straightforward. Lucas Paquetá remains highly valued in European football, and his name was recently linked with a potential trade deal involving Jack Grealish , which would see the Brazilian join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City squad. The deal, while uncertain, demonstrates how highly regarded the player remains on the Old Continent.
On Monday (4), new information emerged about Paquetá's position . According to international media outlets, the player, recently cleared of charges of involvement in sports betting manipulation, is determined to prioritize staying in Europe.
Lucas Paquetá is currently linked to West Ham , where he plays regularly. Despite interest from several clubs around the world, the English team is cautious and is only willing to sell him if a minimum offer of €60 million is reached, which is equivalent to approximately R$382.1 million at the current exchange rate.
The athlete's stance represents a disappointment for Flamengo 's plans, which saw Paquetá as the perfect signing to round out the squad led by Filipe Luís. Despite this, the Rio de Janeiro club continues to monitor the situation and maintains hopes , albeit remote, of facilitating the 27-year-old's return to Brazilian football.
