The Flamengo Deliberative Councilapproved last Monday night (1), by 130 votes and 6 against, the signing of three new contracts with BRB. Among them, the two-year renewal of sponsorship on the shoulders of the red and black shirt. In this way, Flamengo's uniform reaches the mark of R$ 230 million in sponsorships this year.

With the signing, last week, with Ambev for Zé Delivery to stamp its brand on the sock, and the renewal with BRB, all sponsorship spaces are occupied. But Flamengo still intends to increase the value of the uniform by renegotiating the contract with Adidas.

Flamengo's marketing team hopes to renew the contract with the material supplier in the coming weeks. In addition to extending the duration of the contract, the renegotiation foresees an adjustment in the amount paid this season that would guarantee the R$ 20 million that is missing to reach the bold target of R$ 250 million for the uniform alone.

However , the R$25 million for sponsorship is not the entire amount that BRB will pay to Flamengo. The Brasília bank will also pay a minimum of R$15 million per year over the next five seasons for the use of the Flamengo brand on its products. If the sponsorship contract is not renewed after March 2026, the annual value jumps to R$25 million.

In other words, the Flamengo will receive at least R$80 million from BRB over the next two years and R$75 million over the following three years, totaling R$155 million guaranteed.

The value could still increase considerably, however, if the Nação BRB Fla bank starts to make a profit. A third contract approved by the Deliberative Council today officially creates the bank, which until now was an arm of BRB. The new bank, which has 90 days to be created, will belong entirely to BRB, but will have to pass on 45% of its profits to Flamengo.

The contract also guarantees Flamengo the right to receive 45% of a possible sale of part or all of the new bank to another shareholder or in the case of an IPO on the stock exchange.

Flamengo sued Leixões, of Portugal, at FIFA over a debt related to the transfer of striker Werton. In July 2024, the red-and-black club sold 70% of the player's rights for €1 million (R$5.8 million at the then exchange rate).

The club filed a complaint with FIFA's Player Status Resolution Chamber. Leixões was supposed to pay the first installment, €175,000 (R$1.1 million), in November 2024. Flamengo demanded payment from the Portuguese club in January but has not received the amount.

The last charge was on January 14, 2025, when Flamengo gave Leixões 48 hours to pay the adjusted amount - 196,700 euros (R$1.2 million). The Portuguese team once again failed to comply with the agreement, and Flamengo went to FIFA to collect the debt, including fines, interest, and monetary correction.

FIFA HAS GIVEN ITS VERDICT AND PUNISHED THE PORTUGUESE CLUB

On Tuesday afternoon, Flamengo issued a statement on its official website , informing that FIFA had punished Leixões with a well-deserved transfer ban . This means that the Portuguese club will not be able to register new players.

FOLLOW THE NOTE

"Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that Leixões SC, from Portugal, was punished by FIFA with a Transfer Ban due to a debt with the Rio de Janeiro club, regarding the transfer of the athlete Werton. Leixões will be prevented from registering new players for up to three transfer windows, or until the amount of 175 thousand euros is paid to the red-black club. The sanction comes into effect from this Tuesday (15)."

WERTON AT FLAMENGO

A highly successful player in Flamengo's youth academy, he was a gem of the club's nest. Werton made his professional debut for Flamengo in 2021, but never received many opportunities. He left the club with one goal in 12 games.

Negotiations between Flamengo and Cruzeiro for the sale of Matheus Gonçalves suffered a setback. Even with the agreement between the clubs practically complete, the Flamengo board decided to halt the transfer. The reason? A new interested party entered the fray, and pressure from fans on social media forced the club to change its stance.

PLAYER IS CAUGHT BY SURPRISE

Cruzeiro was willing to pay €3.5 million (around R$20 million) for 50% of the 18-year-old player's economic rights. The amount, initially accepted by Flamengo's management , was reviewed internally after Red Bull Bragantino expressed interest and indicated that it could present a higher offer.

FLAMENGO OPENS UP ABOUT GONÇALVES

According to the O Tempo website, Bragantino has investigated the player's situation and expressed a willingness to enter the competition. The São Paulo club is already familiar with Matheus Gonçalves , who played on loan at Bragança Paulista for part of 2023. This prior knowledge of the player, combined with its policy of investing in young players with resale potential, makes Bragantino a serious and strategic contender in this battle.

An official offer is expected to arrive in the coming days. Another important factor influencing Flamengo 's change of direction was the strong reaction from fans on social media. Many Flamengo fans considered the €3.5 million fee for half the rights to be low, considering Matheus Gonçalves' technical potential.

The pressure created discomfort at Gávea, especially at a time when the club is seeking to strengthen its image in the eyes of the nation. The board then opted to err on the side of caution and halted negotiations with Cruzeiro.
