Palmeiras x Flamengo was another game that marked a pitched battle for classification. The two teams that have won the most cups in Brazil in recent years continue to measure forces, and Rubro-Negro decided to place in the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil playing at Allianz Parque. But the match was full of controversies. However, Abel Ferreira's obscene gesture is not one of them, but Palmeiras president Leila Pereira complains anyway.

The gesture is clear, and the expulsion was fair. But Leila Pereira gave an interview in the mixed zone, claiming that the decision was arbitrary and exaggerated. Despite stating that she does not complain about arbitration, the president made the complaint anyway. Furthermore, the attack on Flamengo came next.

For Leila Pereira, Anderson Daronco's patience with Flamengo was “obscene”. She complains about the Flamengo wax, forgetting what Palmeiras did at Maracanã, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.

“I usually don't make refereeing comments to journalists. Regarding Abel's expulsion, I found it very arbitrary, I found it very harsh. Obscene gesture? What I found obscene was the patience that the referee had during stoppages, during waxing, I found that obscene. The little addition that was made. But I don't like complaining about refereeing, it looks like I'm complaining. And never. When I need to complain, I go straight to the CBF. But in Abel’s case, I found it very strict”, says Leila Pereira.

Flamengo almost left Maracanã with the victory over Vasco. Léo Jardim and the post saved Cruzmaltino this Sunday (15), in the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. The classic ended in a 1-1 draw and, although Rubro-Negro did not win the three points, they maintained their taboo against their rival.

Flamengo has not lost to Vasco in seven games, adding up the competitions of the Brazilian and Carioca Championships. In total, Rubro-Negro won five times, while the other two clashes ended in draws. In other words, the taboo in favor of Mais Querido remains intact.

FLAMENGO'S GOLE AT VASCO

Flamengo's most significant victory took place this season, at first round of the Brasileirão. On that occasion, Rubro-Negro beat Vasco 6-1, marking the biggest defeat in the history of the classic in the 21st century. Vasco fans even left the stadium before the end of the match.

This time, there was no rout from Flamengo, thanks to Léo Jardim's miraculous saves and balls hitting the post from Bruno Henrique and Léo Ortiz. Mais Querido opened the scoring at Maracanã, but Cruzmaltino equalized in the 43rd minute of the second half. As a result, both teams left the field with one point each.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME

Now, Flamengo turns its attention to the duel against Peñarol (URU), on Thursday (19), in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. The game is scheduled for 7pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã.

The Flamengo is focused on the Libertadores decision, against Peñarol, but is also eyeing the clash against Grêmio, on September 22nd, in the 27th round of the Brasileirão. This is because the team from Rio Grande do Sul will not be able to count on defender Jemerson, who will be suspended after receiving his third yellow card.

The defender was involved in an argument with the Bragantino player and was punished with a yellow card by the referee. Bruno Arleu de Araújo in the final minutes of this Sunday's match (15). Furthermore, Jemerson left the field feeling pain, in addition to the automatic suspension.

The other two cards that Jemerson received in the Brasileirão were when he was playing for Atlético-MG. The first was in the game against Corinthians, in the first round, then he was punished again against Fluminense, in the fifth round.

GREMIO'S MISSINGS AND RETURNS

So, Jemerson joins Grêmio's long list of absences for the game against Flamengo. This is because the team from Rio Grande do Sul will not be able to count on André Henrique, Du Queiroz, Fabio, Nathan Fernandes and Pavón, who are injured. However, Renato Gaúcho will be able to count on Kannemann's return.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT GAME

Before Flamengo faces Grêmio, Mais Querido takes the field on Thursday (19), in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals, against Peñarol. The game will be at Maracanã, at 7pm. The confrontation against the team from Rio Grande do Sul will be on the 22nd, at Arena do Grêmio.

In the search “Pulso do Torcedor ” carried out by Atlas Intel, coach Tite, from Flamengo, as the second best coach among the clubs in Series A of the Brazilian Championship. Only Abel Ferreira, from Palmeiras, was ahead of the red and black team in the survey carried out by the analysis institute.

The responses pointed to the current two-time Brazilian champion Abel Ferreira as the favorite by 27.9%. Tite, from Flamengo, came in second place, cited by 18.6% of those interviewed. The top 3 still has Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who has been at Fortaleza for three years and in second place in the Brasileirão, with 9.1%. Completing the top-5 are Botafogo coach Artur Jorge, mentioned by 8.1%, and Fernando Seabra, from Cruzeiro, with 7.2%.

Tite was mentioned by 47.5% of fans of Flamengo as the best coach in Brazil - a much lower percentage than the Cruzeirenses' preference for Fernando Seabra (72.6% of Raposa fans voted for him) or Grêmio idol Renato Gaúcho, who was chosen by more than half of the fans from Grêmio (51.1%). The coach with the greatest approval from fans is Argentine Vojvoda, from Fortaleza, chosen by 96.3% of Leão do Pici fans.

The Atlas survey collects information organically during routine internet browsing - on smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers. According to the research institute, this method has two advantages: it addresses several sources of bias and deals with the possible over- or under-representation of demographic groups.
