After beating Bahia 1-0 on Saturday (10), at Maracanã, Flamengo provisionally took the lead in the Brazilian Championship . However, the eighth round of the tournament continues this Sunday (11), with four matches that could change the top of the table — especially the classic between Palmeiras and São Paulo.
This Sunday's round starts at 4pm (Brasília time), with Sport x Cruzeiro , at the Adelmar da Costa Carvalho Stadium. Then, at 5:30pm, two games will move the schedule: Atlético-MG hosts Fluminense , at Arena MRV, while Palmeiras faces São Paulo , at Allianz Parque - the latter with a direct impact on the fight for the lead.
Closing Sunday, at 8pm, Botafogo faces Internacional at Nilton Santos Stadium. The round only ends on Monday (12), with Santos x Ceará , at 8pm, at Vila Belmiro.
With the victory over Bahia , Flamengo reached 17 points and took the lead in the Brasileirão, surpassing Bragantino on goal difference. However, to remain leaders at the end of the round, the team led by Filipe Luís depends on a stumble by Palmeiras, who has 16 points and can overtake Rubro-Negro if they win against rivals São Paulo.
While watching Sunday's games, Flamengo is already turning its attention to the next mission: the Copa Libertadores da América . The team returns to the field on Thursday (15), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), to face LDU (EQU) at Maracanã , in a decisive clash for the fifth round of the group stage.
With five points in Group C, Flamengo currently occupies third place , behind LDU (8 points) and Central Córdoba (8). The match will also be broadcast on Disney+. Winning at home is essential to keep alive the hope of qualifying for the round of 16.

Flamengo officially announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal this Thursday (31). At 27 years old, the player arrived in Rio de Janeiro after a long journey of more than 19 hours , coming from Russia, where he played for Dynamo Moscow. He is the fourth reinforcement confirmed by the club in the window, alongside Saúl, Emerson Royal and Samuel Lino.
The acquisition of Carrascal represents another step in Flamengo's ambitious project for the remainder of the season. To complete the deal with the Russian club, Flamengo paid 12 million euros— approximately R$77.5 million at the current exchange rate —in a negotiation that dragged on for weeks.
This Thursday (31), the midfielder appeared at Ninho do Urubu, where he underwent medical examinations , visited the facilities at CT George Helal and met with the Technical Director of Football, José Boto. After the completion of the procedures, the player signed a contract with Flamengo.
Carrascal's official presentation was scheduled to take place at the Maracanã stadium before the Copa do Brasil round of 16 clash against Atlético-MG. The event follows the model adopted with Samuel Lino, who was also presented directly to fans in the stadium stands. However, the documentation was not released in time.
Negotiations between Flamengo and Dynamo Moscow began even before the Club World Cup , but faced obstacles before completion. The Rio de Janeiro club had to reformulate its initial proposal, adjusting amounts and payment terms, until reaching an agreement with the Russians. Although the terms were defined in early July, the transfer was only officially finalized this week.
