During the Flamengo, it is not uncommon to hear some bombs at Maracanã. Fans have the habit of lighting some flares and using these noisy objects inside the stadium, which never go unnoticed. But despite some visual effects used to celebrate, these devices are strictly prohibited inside the stadiums and Conmebol fines them for their use by fans.

This is what happened again in this Libertadores 2024. It is not the first Since Conmebol acts more incisively with Flamengo because of this, and according to GE, the club broke some rules against Bolívar and Millonarios. For flares and pyrotechnic objects, prohibited in article 12.2 C, the club received a fine of 10 thousand dollars. In other words, R$ 52 thousand, for a total of 34 bombs in the North Sector.

Article 27 talks about recurrence, and Flamengo was also included in it. In this case, the punishment may be heavier due to the frequency with which these infractions occur. With the use of prohibited items against Bolívar and Millonarios, the judgment of the article will still take place by the Conmebol Disciplinary Unit.

Conmebol would also not have liked an action by Flamengo to attract new fan members. The club placed a banner advertising its membership program, and the entity pointed out the infraction in the commercial area: “The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo placed a banner on the east side alluding to the fan partner program with the message: 'Member- Fan: mengo.com.br', thus setting up an ambush marketing action.”

This is not the first time that Flamengo has received fines from Conmebol for fan actions

In 2023, similar situations happened three times. In June, the party with flares against Racing resulted in Flamengo being punished. The fine imposed on the club was US$5,000, almost R$24,000. The following month, the problem persisted against Aucas, still in the group stage, and the value rose to R$ 62 thousand due to the recurrence.

Against Olimpia, in August, the same happened in the game first leg of the round of 16. Once again, due to repeat offenses, the fine increased again. This time, for R$112 thousand. The club also received warnings in the match due to the absence of Everton Ribeiro and David Luiz in the Mixed Zone and the poor pitch, with non-standard lines.

In the 2022 edition, Flamengo also suffered from fines, and bombs and flares continue to be a problem for the club, regularly fined by Conmebol.

GERSON, PEDRO AND BEHIND THE SCENES

The main absence at the reappearance was Gerson n . The midfielder had his contract termination published in the CBF's Daily Information Bulletin (BID) and is no longer part of the red-black squad. Despite the expectation that he would be able to appear at the CT to say goodbye to his teammates, the player did not show up at Ninho do Urubu this Saturday. Gerson is on his way to Zenit, in Russia, a club with which he has already signed a contract.

FLAMENGO PREPARES FOR RETURN TO THE PITCH

Unlike the midfielder, Pedro was present at the training center and trained normally with the squad. During the week, rumors circulated about Flamengo's interest in negotiating with the striker, but internally the player remains focused on training and at the disposal of the coaching staff. Midfielder Vinícius Souza was transferred from Sheffield United to Wolfsburg for 15 million euros (approximately R$95.8 million) . FIFA rules reserve up to 5% of the transfer fee paid by clubs to reward all clubs that contributed to the development of the athlete between the ages of 12 and 23. In Vinícius' case, Flamengo accumulated 3.05% because he left the club at the age of 21.

This transfer reinforces the sustainable business model of the red-black base, which obtained financial returns even without the sale of the athlete in loco. To give you an idea, a similar mechanism yielded the club around R$11 million in the sale of Lucas Paquetá, for example. The amount of R$3 million will be deposited directly into the club's coffers.

HOW MUCH WILL FLAMENGO RECEIVE?

Transfer: 15 million euros (~R$ 95.8 million)

Solidarity percentage: 3.05%

Estimated total for Flamengo: R$3 million

FIFA VALUE

This amount is not exceptional for an individual transfer, but it shows how small amounts can generate consistent resources for the club. When added to other negotiations – especially of athletes revealed at Ninho –, these revenues reinforce the financial viability of the red-black base without depending on immediate sales.

In addition to Roma, Premier League team expected to make offer for Wesley

Right-back Kyle Walker's move to newly-promoted Burnley has opened a gap in Manchester City's squad. The 35-year-old defender opted not to stay at the club despite having a contract until 2026 , and ended his career under Pep Guardiola, in which he was a key player in successful campaigns, such as the 2022/23 Treble.

With his departure confirmed, the English club is evaluating alternatives in the market to strengthen the sector , and the name of Wesley, a standout player at Mais Querido, appears as one of the main options. According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, the Citizens are considering formalizing an offer for the young full-back.

SHORT CAST IN POSITION

Manchester City currently only have Rico Lewis, 20, and Issa Kaboré, 24 , as their right-backs. Neither of them, however, has managed to establish themselves in the starting line-up, which led Guardiola to improvise midfielder Matheus Nunes in the role.

Given this scenario, the hiring of a consolidated full-back becomes urgent. Wesley, 21, has been standing out since Filipe Luís arrived on the coaching staff and is attracting attention from European football due to his speed, marking and offensive projection.

ROME PRESENTS FORMAL OFFER

While Manchester City is still evaluating the terms of a possible move, Roma has already made progress in negotiations with a concrete proposal. The Italian club offered around 25 million euros (around R$160 million), including bonuses, through a loan model with an obligation to buy — a common strategy to get around limitations imposed by UEFA's Financial Fair Play.
