Considered as a great promise on the left side, Jorge, revealed by Flamengo, is having difficulty establishing himself in national football. This past Tuesday (24), the 28-year-old player was released by CRB, from Alagoas, runner-up in the Brasileirão Série B. The athlete was being underutilized, with just ten games and two assists in the season.
Jorge had his contract terminated after coach Hélio dos Anjos took charge of the club, which was announced on Friday (20). The coach assessed the squad and decided that he would not count on the left back. Thus, the player's time at CRB lasted just five months.

After making his entire base at Most beloved, Jorge made his professional debut in 2015. The young man surprised by placing the then Colombian national team full-back Pablo Armeno on the bench. After standing out in 2016, the player went to Monaco (FRA), where he was a starter and French champion alongside Mbappé.
In 2019, Jorge played on loan at Porto (POR), Santos and Basel (SUI), until the permanent signing of Palmeiras, in 2021. Subsequently, the full-back's career went downhill, with unsuccessful spells at Fluminense, Santos and CRB.

Flamengo's life is not easy, much less that of coach Tite and his coaching staff. Flamengo's defeat to Grêmio in the Brasileirão, last Sunday (22), made the team look very close to the relegation zone in the second round of the championship.
Out of 24 possible points, the team only scored eight, in addition to scoring 10 goals and conceding 13. While Flamengo loses steam in an important part of the competition, the opponents above have an advantage. The best return campaign is Fortaleza, with 19 points, followed by Palmeiras (17) and Botafogo (16). The three are even ahead of Mais Querido in the table.

Mais Querido's idol still highlights that he believes in Mais Querido's turnaround

Flamengo returns to the field this Thursday (26), when they face Peñarol, in the second leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. Needing a victory with more than two goals, Mais Querido's idol, Junior, believes that the team is capable of surprising the Uruguayan team. For the former red and black number 8, a solid and "correct" performance could be the way to turn things around.
"You will hardly find two consecutive matches with Arrascaeta and De La Cruz getting practically everything wrong that they tried (…) if they play a correct game like this team can play, they can really surprise Peñarol", said Junior.
The Mais Querido idol also made a point of warning Rubro-Negro about Peñarol's organization and the dangers of counterattacks. This is because the Uruguayan team tends to be efficient in quick transitions and can cause difficulties for Flamengo.
"You will find an extremely organized team. That doesn't mind handing the ball over to the opponent. And that has very efficient when it comes to transitioning, quickly, counter-attacking. And I believe this is Flamengo's greatest difficulty", highlighted Junior.
FOCUS ON THE BIG DECISION< /b>Thus, the red and black squad finalizes their preparation for the match against Peñarol this Wednesday afternoon (25), in Uruguay. Mais Querido faces the Uruguayan team this Thursday (26th), at 7pm, at Esádio Campeón del Siglo, in Montevideo.
There are still three games to be defined in the competition, all of them from the teams from Rio Grande do Sul.

This Thursday (23), the other five teams that will be in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil were defined. One of the favorites, Palmeiras, was suffocated by 18th place in Series B, Botafogo-SP. The confrontation ended 0-0, with the team from the capital of São Paulo having the better on aggregate, as they had won in the first leg. Furthermore, two second division teams remain in contention: Goiás and CRB-AL.

Goiás lost to Cuiabá at Arena Pantanal 1-0, the same score as the first leg, but in favor of the Cuiabanos. Thus, the game was decided on penalties, with the Goiás team coming out on top. CRB visited Ceará, at Arena Castelão, and won, just as happened in the duel held in Maceió.
In the 9pm match, Bahia calmly passed Criciúma, in Santa Catarina, by 2 to 0. At Morumbis, São Paulo repeated the first leg, in Pará, and beat Águia de Marabá.
