Singer Lorena Alexandre, often associated with Marília Mendonça's cover artist, took to social media to share her feelings about a lawsuit filed by Dona Ruth Moreira, the late artist's mother. According to Lorena, the matriarch filed a lawsuit demanding R$100,000 in compensation for the use of her daughter's name.
"I was sued, yes. Mrs. Ruth asked me for R$100,000 and tried to end my life and career. While many were there as 'favorite cover girls,' I was persecuted, humiliated, defamed—I kept quiet," the singer wrote in a recent post.
Lorena reported that after discussions with Ruth Moreira and João Gustavo—Marília's mother and brother—she decided to stop using any title that officially associated her with the country singer. According to her, her family never authorized the use of the name or any other identification as a cover of the singer.
Even so, the singer asserts that her intention was always to pay tribute and show respect. "R$100,000? I could never afford it. The case is under seal, so I can't say anything else. But let me be clear: there's love, respect, and dedication here. For Marília, I'll go all the way," she declared.
After Marília Mendonça 's death in a tragic plane crash in November 2021, Dona Ruth began to appear frequently in the media. In addition to the lawsuit involving Lorena, she is also at the center of a new controversy: the legal dispute over custody of her 5-year-old grandson Léo, the artist's son with singer Murilo Huff.

Oruam turned himself in to the police last Tuesday (22) after having an arrest warrant issued by the Court. Thus, this Wednesday (23), the rapper's fiancée, Fernanda Valença, spoke on her Instagram about the reaction of her father-in-law, Marcinho VP. The influencer highlighted that the singer's father "is not happy" with the indictment.
Oruam's bride talks about Marcinho VP's opinion: "Contrary to what many people think, my father-in-law is not happy about any of this news."
She continued: "He and my mother-in-law fought tirelessly throughout their lives for their children to change the family's destiny. However, this never stopped the constant psychological torments they faced over time ," she wrote in an excerpt.
