Flamengo's youngster debuts for Portuguese club with prominence

Flamengo-trained midfielder makes his first appearance in Portugal, in Estrela da Amadora's 2-2 draw with Boavista

Creative of the Ninho, midfielder Igor Jesus made his debut for Estrela da Amadora, from Portugal. In the 2-2 draw against Boavista, in the fifth round of the Portuguese Championship, the player revealed by Mengão came on at half-time to play his first game on European soil.

The 21-year-old midfielder played for 45 minutes. According to Sofaescore, Igor Jesus had a score of 7.2, one of the highest on the Portuguese team. The athlete was sold for 2 million euros, that is, R$12.5 million, but Flamengo maintains 50% of the player's economic rights. With this, the club will profit even more from a future sale.


Igor Jesus had 87% of the correct passes in the match (26/30), one of which was decisive. He completed all his dribbles (2/2) and won most of the ball contests (7/11). With the draw, the Estrela da Amadora team remains in penultimate place (17th), with two points won.


Ex-Flamengo goalkeeper César was on the bench for Boavista

Goalkeeper César, also trained at Flamengo, was in the match, but as an option on the bench. The player had left Boavista, but, after problems in the squad due to injury, the board “went back” and agreed on the player's return.

Currently, Boavista finds itself in a huge financial crisis, resulting in punishment for to the signing of new players. In this sense, another reason arose to bring back the archer, ex-Flamengo, as the signing was treated as a contract renewal, not a transfer.

Tite's termination fine at Flamengo

If Flamengo decides to terminate Tite's contract, the club would have to pay the amount related to his salary until the end of his contract, which runs until December 2024. With Tite receiving around R$1.8 million per month, the fine would total R$7.2 million. The information was released by the RTI Esporte portal.

However, so far, everything indicates that Tite will remain in charge of Flamengo until the end of the contract.

With 12 titles won by Flamengo, goalkeeper César Bernardo faced an unusual situation in his career at 32 years old. After not having his contract renewed by Boavista (POR) in June, the archer was re-signed by the same team in September due to serious injuries suffered by the team's two main goalkeepers.

Last Tuesday (10) , goalkeepers João Gonçalves, starter, and Luis Pires, reserve, tore their anterior cruciate knee ligament during training and are out of action until the end of 2024. Furthermore, Boavista is banned by FIFA from signing new players due to debts, which opened up the possibility for César, who was without a contract, to return to the club.


Now, the former Flamengo player joins young players Tomás Maçães and Cristiano Bacci, both 17 years old. In his first spell at the Portuguese club, which lasted two years, César participated in just six matches.
