A product of Ninho do Urubu, midfielder Igor Jesus shone last Sunday (27) in Major League Soccer (MLS). Playing for Los Angeles FC, the midfielder was one of the highlights in the 2-2 draw against St. Louis City, in a match valid for the 10th round of the North American league.
The player who came through Flamengo's doors had a consistent performance both in defense and in attack. He made eight tackles — the highest number of the match —, made 69 passes with 95% accuracy and 100% accuracy in his throws . In addition, Igor had one shot that was dangerous for the opponent's goal.
Igor Jesus may have a date set for the reunion with Mengão. This is because Los Angeles FC, the team he defends, is expected to play a playoff with América-MEX to secure the last spot in Flamengo's group in the Club World Cup , due to León (MEX) being excluded for having the same owner as Pachuca, something that is prohibited by the competition's rules.
After being traded by Flamengo to Estrela da Amadora , from Portugal , Igor Jesus stood out in Europe and aroused interest from North American football . Los Angeles FC paid 4 million euros (around R$25 million at the time) to acquire 90% of the player's economic rights. Rubro-Negro kept 50% of the sale value .
On the same day that Igor Jesus performed in the USA, Flamengo made headlines in Brazil with a huge victory . Filipe Luís' team beat Corinthians 4-0 at Maracanã and took the lead in the Brazilian Championship, with 14 points after six rounds.
Now, Flamengo turns its attention to the Copa do Brasil. This Thursday (01), the team visits Botafogo-PB for the first leg of the third phase. The match will be played at 8 pm (Brasília time), at the Castelão Stadium, in São Luís, with exclusive broadcast via Amazon Prime Video .

Flamengo and Giorgian De Arrascaeta are close to formalizing a new contract. Negotiations resumed in recent weeks and are expected to advance during the FIFA World Cup break. The agreement provides for a contract until December 2028 , with an automatic extension until 2029 if the player meets performance targets set by the parties.
The number 10 currently has a contract with the club until the end of 2026, but he has already expressed his desire to stay longer. Initially, the board didn't see any urgency in bringing forward the talks , but the Uruguayan's prominence this season led Flamengo to prioritize the renewal.
Negotiations began in February, were halted in May, and are now in their final stages. Executive director José Boto and businessman Daniel Fonseca, a former Uruguayan national team player , are leading the talks.
After a rocky start, when negotiations were postponed until 2025, there is now agreement and optimism between the parties. New meetings are expected to take place next week in Rio de Janeiro to finalize the contract details.
So far, Arrascaeta has 19 goals and 13 assists in 48 appearances for Flamengo in 2025 , numbers that confirm his role as one of the squad's key players. In 2019, the year of his debut with the club, he was directly involved in 37 goals (18 scored and 19 assists).
The first leg between the teams will take place at Maracanã on October 22, with exclusive tickets for fan club members and the general public.

Agustín Rossi remains one of the main figures in Flamengo's squad, but talks about a contract renewal are only expected to take place in 2026. The Flamengo board decided to postpone the negotiations, as the goalkeeper's current contract is valid until December 2027 , allowing for more relaxed planning for both parties.
Meanwhile, the Rio de Janeiro club has supported the athlete's naturalization process, as he seeks Brazilian citizenship. The board believes this step could make Rossi's personal life easier and contribute to roster planning , especially regarding the number of foreign players available.
At 30 years old, Rossi is considered a key player in Filipe Luís's team. In recent weeks, the Argentine goalkeeper has had standout performances, saving three penalties in Libertadores and Brasileirão matches. His performances have reinforced the confidence of the coach and the fans, solidifying him as one of the team's leaders.
Even though Flamengo is in no rush to renew, it is already planning to offer a salary increase and extend the contract until 2028. Internally, the good relationship between the player and the club is seen as essential for a future agreement without major impasses.
Flamengo will return to action on October 15th, after the FIFA World Cup break, in a derby against Botafogo in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match is scheduled for 7:30 pm (Brasília time) at Nilton Santos Stadium. The squad will have Monday off before resuming training.
