Flamengo takes to the field this Tuesday (28), at 9pm (Brasília time) against Millionarios-COL, at Maracanã, seeking to guarantee a place in the round of 16 of the Libertadores. Currently, Rubro-Negro occupies second place in Group E, with 7 points, but could still finish in first place. Flamengo's chances of qualifying are great. In case of a simple victory against the Colombian team, the Rio club is guaranteed in the round of 16, but not in first place. For this to happen, Tite's team will still need to support Palestino-CHI to defeat the current leader Bolívar-BOL at the altitude of La Paz.

In this case, the three clubs would be tied on 10 points and Fla The only thing they wouldn't finish first is if the Chileans defeated the Bolivians to eliminate the seven-goal difference.

On the other hand, a stumble could jeopardize Flamengo's place in the round of 16. If they draw with Millonarios, Rubro-Negro will be dependent on Palestino not beating Bolívar. In case of defeat at Maracanã, a draw for the Chileans eliminates the Gávea club.

Flamengo's mission in the last round should not be difficult. Millonarios is in last place in Group E of the Libertadores and has no chance of even seeking a spot in the Copa Sudamericana.

Fired this Monday morning, Tite< /a> failed to implement the expected performance at Flamengo since his arrival. Furthermore, the strong pressure from the fans would have influenced both the board and the coach himself. According to Lédio Carmona, the coach "felt" the weight of this situation. He appeared visibly dejected in the post-game press conference, and, even after the victory that kept the team in the G4 of the Brasileirão, the atmosphere of dismissal was already noticeable.

“He is emotionally fragile, I think he was unable to mobilize emotionally , in soul terms, the players. If you look at Flamengo's goal celebration, it will look like a goal at 15 in the first half, players celebrated in an almost cold way. And the information we have is that the locker room after the game is a very cold locker room”, analyzed Lédio.

Lédio Carmona highlighted that, in addition to the elimination in the Libertadores, the main reason for Tite has been underperforming, especially in recent months. The absence of Pedro, an essential player for the coach's scheme, left the team vulnerable, further exposing the team's flaws.

“He couldn't make the team play well, he couldn't find solutions, he couldn't It improved the players' mental side. And this brought reflections from the board in terms of this, on his emotional side, on the team's soul”, added Lédio.

Now, with Filipe Luís taking charge until the end of the year, the expectation is that there will be no there is only a change of name in the technical area, but also a change in the team's tactics and posture on the field. Filipe, who has a good relationship with the players, is betting on a more modern game proposal to try to save Flamengo's season.

With confirmation from Flamengo that Filipe Luís will be the club's interim coach until the end of the 2024 season, Mengão announced through its social networks the names of the professionals who will be alongside the former full-back as part of the technical committee in his work as coach of Mais Querido's main team. Filipe Luís will take command of Flamengo's main team with the support of three technical assistants: Ivan Palanco, Márcio Torres and Daniel Alegria. In addition to them, physical trainer Diogo Linhares will also be part of the technical committee. Ivan, Márcio and Diogo had already worked with Filipe in the under-20s, while Daniel was with him in the under-17s.

Spanish Ivan Palanco, 44, graduated from Barcelona and was hired in January at the request of former left-back Filipe Luís. From Tite's technical committee, Flamengo opted to keep technical assistant Vinicius Bergantin, who had recently been hired from Ferroviária, as well as performance analyst Bruno Baquete, who worked with the former coach of Mais Querido in the Brazilian National Team.

Filipe Luís, 39 years old, already has the B and A licenses from the CBF Academy, which enable him to sign national match summaries. However, he still does not have the Conmebol PRO License, required for international competitions since 2020.

The "marriage" between Tite and Flamengo officially came to an end this Monday (30), with the announcement of the coach's dismissal. Thus, the coach ends his time at Rubro-Negro after 70 games, with a 64.7% success rate, in addition to having won a state title and suffering a disappointing elimination in the Libertadores da América.

Tite took over Flamengo on October 9, 2023, after the departure of Jorge Sampaoli. The former Brazilian national team coach signed a contract until the end of 2024, but his departure comes three months ahead of schedule.

During his time in charge of Flamengo, Tite accumulated 70 matches, totaling 41 wins, 13 draws and 16 defeats. Under his management, the team scored 109 goals and conceded 50. He also led the team to win the Campeonato Carioca undefeated.

Despite a promising start, Flamengo's performances under his command of Tite did not please the majority of the fans. The team, which led the Brasileirão for a few rounds, began to oscillate and currently occupies fourth place with 48 points, nine behind leader Botafogo, who has 57.

Elimination in the Libertadores

Three-time Libertadores champion, Flamengo entered the 2024 edition as one of the favorites and top seed of Group E. However, the team's performance in the group stage fell below expectations, resulting in a second-place finish. In the round of 16, Mais Querido beat Bolívar (BOL) 2-1 on aggregate, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals after being defeated by Peñarol (URU) without managing to score a goal.

Departure of the Technical Committee

In addition to Tite, the entire technical committee is also leaving Flamengo. Among the professionals leaving the club are assistants Cleber Xavier, Matheus Bachi, César Sampaio and Vinícius Bergantin, physical trainer Fábio Mahseredjian and performance analyst Lucas Oliveira.
