In a recent turnaround in sports jurisprudence, the Regional Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro annulled the decision that had been favorable to Flamengo in the case involving former defender Dener. The athlete, who retired early due to complications from knee injuries, had lost the first legal fight against the team, but the legal battle gained a new chapter.

The previous decision was questioned due to defense restriction , with the allegation that Dener's lawyers were not allowed to hear crucial witnesses. The court's new determination calls for a new hearing to be held so that these testimonies can be considered, thus ensuring a fairer and more balanced trial.

Dener Gaspar, notorious defender, made announcement of retirement at the height of his sporting youth, at the age of 23, in 2021, citing severe physical consequences due to poorly treated injuries. His trajectory was marked by promises and expectations, especially for being part of an excellent generation from the red and black base, which included talents such as Lucas Paquetá and Léo Duarte.

The new audience will focus on the technical details of the treatment doctor received by Dener and how this influenced the course of his career. This episode serves as a warning to sports clubs and associations about the importance of adequate and transparent medical support.

Despite the initial verdict denying a conclusive medical error, citing only 4% of functional impairment, the defense of Dener argues that the impact of his injuries was much greater, directly affecting his ability to play professionally. With the reopening of the case, new tests may be requested to clarify the real extent of the damage suffered by the former athlete.

The expectation is that Dener's case, now reviewed, will inspire greater care and responsibility in treatments doctors offered within the sporting context, expanding the debate on the safety and health of athletes in Brazil. With the review of this decision, a precedent is set for other athletes who feel harmed to also seek justice.

On Saturday afternoon (28), Flamengo held its last training session before facing Athletico-PR in the Brasileirão. A clash that could decide the future of coach Tite at Mengão, was attended by all the players considered to be starters, despite the expectation of a mixed team for Sunday (29).

In content published on social media of Flamengo, names like Bruno Henrique and Alex Sandro, who were starters in the Libertadores elimination, last Thursday (26), appear alongside young fledglings, such as Matheus Gonçalves and Evertton, who have been widely used in the “reserve team ” by Tite.

Flamengo may have held the last training session under Tite's command.

With his destiny becoming more uncertain at Flamengo, Tite may having led his last training session as coach of Rubro-Negro. There are four games without a win, a bad result, or poorly presented football against Athletico-PR, could mean the end of the line for the coach, just under a year after his arrival.

In the semi-finals of Copa do Brasil, where they face Corinthians, and in the G4 of the Brasileirão, Rubro-Negro's objective is clear, to become CdB champion, and remain in the classification zone for the next Libertadores in the points championship.
