Flamengo secured around R$3 million with the transfer of midfielder Vinícius Souza to Wolfsburg, Germany. The German club paid 15 million euros (approximately R$95.8 million) to acquire the player from Sheffield United, England.

The amount allocated to Rubro-Negro is related to FIFA 's solidarity mechanism, which determines the division of 5% of the total value of international negotiations between the clubs that participated in the athlete's training between the ages of 12 and 23. As Flamengo had the player until he was 21, the amount to which it is entitled is 3.05%.

Officially announced on Wolfsburg's social media, Vinícius Souza was called "Garoto do Ninho" , in reference to his training at Mengão's youth academy. The contract signed with the German club will be valid until 2030, consolidating the new step in the 26-year-old athlete's career.

Vinição's performance, as he is known , throughout his time in Europe was marked by defensive consistency and good positioning, which caught the attention of the Bundesliga club. The expectation is that he will assume a relevant role in the Wolves' midfield in the coming seasons.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Born in Padre Miguel, a neighborhood in the west zone of Rio, Vinícius Souza began his career with Mengão's under-15 team in 2014. Promoted to the main squad in 2019, he had his first opportunity in the final minutes of a match in the Campeonato Carioca. That same year, he was part of the historic squad led by Jorge Jesus, winning the Libertadores and Brasileirão titles.

Rubro-Negro decided to act strongly in the market after the Club World Cup and is looking for names that can qualify the squad. Jorge Carrascal , a 26-year-old midfielder who plays for Dynamo Moscow, was chosen to fill a long-standing gap: the lack of a direct replacement for Arrascaeta.

Despite the difficulties imposed by the Russians, who require bank guarantees to complete the deal, Flamengo is confident that the agreement will be concluded. The offer is around 12 million euros, approximately R$76 million, without bonuses for targets. Flamengo's proposal was structured in three installments, and the negotiations are centered on providing the guarantees required by Dynamo.

NAMES IN THE WINDOW OF THE MOST LOVED ONE

The Russians are showing some rigidity on this point, but the Brazilian club believes that the obstacles will be overcome in the coming days. Internally, there is optimism about the outcome. Carrascal's staff has already received the green light to move forward with the salary terms, and the player is looking forward to returning to South America, where he gained notoriety at River Plate.

MAJOR REINFORCEMENT FOR THE RUBRO-NEGRO ATTACK

The Colombian's arrival aims to fill a clear gap in the squad. Currently, Filipe Luís relies on De La Cruz in the creative sector, but the Uruguayan has been used more as a second midfielder. Arrascaeta, with a recent history of injuries, still does not have a reliable backup. Carrascal is seen as a player capable of maintaining the technical level when the number 14 is unable to play. With good ball handling, vision of the game and intensity, the midfielder fits the profile that the coaching staff is looking for.

In parallel with the negotiations with Dynamo, Flamengo also made progress in talks with Mikey Johnston , a 25-year-old striker who belongs to West Bromwich. The player is a bet by the board to strengthen the sides of the field and increase offensive competitiveness. José Boto, football director, identifies the signing as a market opportunity, and the move has the approval of Filipe Luís.

Flamengo's squad returned to CT Ninho do Urubu this Saturday (5), to begin preparations for the match against São Paulo, on the 12th, for the Brasileirão. For the match, coach Hernán Crespo may gain two reinforcements: Lucas Moura and Ferreira.

SAO PAULO MAY HAVE REINFORCEMENTS AGAINST FLAMENGO

This Saturday (5), midfielder Lucas Moura and striker Ferreira took another step in their recovery from injury. Thus, the duo did a new physical transition session and are closer to returning to the pitch.

The players participated in an activity on physical preparation. Lucas has been experiencing pain in his right knee since March and was diagnosed with a posterior capsule strain in May. The player was given three months to resolve the problem, but he should return this month.

Ferreira has been suffering from a plantar fascia injury in his left foot since May. The striker missed the last six matches before the Club World Cup break to treat the problem. There is therefore a chance that the players will be available for the match against Flamengo.

AND FLAMENGO?

For the match against São Paulo, Flamengo will not have Pulgar and Gerson available. This is because the number 5 is injured after fracturing the metatarsal of his right foot and the number 8 was sold to Zenit. The teams will face each other on July 12th, at 4:30 pm, at Maracanã, for the Brasileirão.
