It's official! The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this Monday (12) that Carlo Ancelotti is the new coach of the Brazilian National Team. The 65-year-old Italian will leave Real Madrid after the last match of the La Liga season against Real Sociedad. With this, Ancelotti becomes the first foreign commander in the history of the Amarelinha .
Ancelotti still had one year left on his contract with the Spanish club, but due to the season being below expectations, both the Spanish club and the coach reached an agreement for an amicable departure . The agreement was reached after cordial talks between all parties, led and conducted by Diego Fernandes on behalf of the CBF.
We are determined to reclaim the top spot on the podium..."
"The greatest national team in the history of football will now be led by the most successful coach in the world . Carlo Ancelotti, synonymous with historic achievements, was announced this Monday (12) by the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, as the new coach of the Brazilian national team. He will lead Brazil until the 2026 World Cup and will already coach the Amarelinha in the next two games for the Qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, next month.
“Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move. It is a statement to the world that we are determined to reclaim the top spot on the podium. He is the greatest coach in history and now he is leading the greatest team on the planet. Ancelotti will replace Dorival Júnior, who was fired in March after 14 months in charge. The Italian's first match will be against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier on June 6. The signing frustrates the plans of Jorge Jesus , formerly of Flamengo, who had the national team as his main objective , as he dreams of playing in the World Cup .
Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in 2021 and has won two La Liga titles and three Champions League titles in two spells at the club. The Merengues were knocked out in the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal, lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona in extra time last month and are seven points behind Hansi Flick's side at the top of La Liga with three games remaining.
