At the press conference after Flamengo's 4-2 victory against Atlético-MG, on Wednesday night (03), in the Brasileirão, Tite said he had "an eternal debt" to the Minas Gerais club. "I'll carry it with me for the rest of my life", said the Flamengo coach.

The statement has an explanation. The coach had a short spell at Galo in 2005, between April and July. There were four wins, six draws and 11 defeats. At the end of that year, without Tite, the team was relegated to Series B.

The coach's work, at the time, was cut short due to relationship difficulties with some 'hard-core' players in the squad. It was not the first time that Tite regretted the lack of success in his career with Atlético-MG. In 2022, he admitted that he was not ready to coach the club at that time.

"I was insufficiently mature, studied, qualified and experienced to manage Galo. I was insufficient for the greatness of Atlético, I was not sufficiently trained," he said. "If I knew about the mistakes, I wouldn't make them, because I'm not stupid. I would take them and just do the right thing. But the structure of life is like this...", he added.
