Last Thursday (13), Olivinha retired from the courts after Flamengo finished runner-up in the NBB. The game, which was supposed to be a festive farewell to the red-and-black idol, was sad due to the defeat. However, the "god of Race" received a beautiful tribute.


This past Tuesday (18), the National Basketball League (LNB) held an awards night for the NBB's outstanding athletes. Thus, at the event, Olivinha was honored and learned about great news for the next season. From now on, Mais Querido's idol will give his name to the "Rebounder of the Year" trophy.


So, from next season onwards, the athlete who was the biggest rebounder of the NBB season will receive the "Olivinha trophy". The "god of Race" ended his career as a professional player, but will give his name to the "Best of NBB" award.


Through social media, LNB announced the news: “It's history! Winner of the Reboteiro of the Year award on three occasions, Olivinha goes on to name the trophy in the 'Best NBB' category.

OLIVINHA'S TITLES FOR FLAMENGO


For Mais Querido, Olivinha was a multiple champion and entered the history of Rubro-Negro. This is because the star won two titles in the Intercontinental Cup (2014 and 2022), Champions League of the Americas (2020/21), League of the Americas (2014) and NBB (2012/13, 2013). /14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2018/19 and 2020/21).

FlaBasquete is in the final stages of preparation for the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, which will be held in Singapore on September 18-19. Amid the preseason in Europe, the club is working to increase the visibility of the sport and is negotiating the broadcast of the matches on the official Flamengo TV channel .


According to journalist Enéas Lima of the Garrafão Rubro-Negro website, Flamengo is working on an agreement with FIBA to broadcast the games. A decision has not yet been made, but the organization's official website already provides a link to the debut against NBA G-League United .


TOURNAMENT FORMAT


The competition brings together clubs from different continents. Flamengo is in the same group as NBA G-League United (USA) and Illawarra Hawks (Australia) . On the other side are AlAhli SC (Libya), Unicaja (Spain), and Utsunomiya Brex (Japan). Flamengo begins its quest for its third title on September 18th against the North American team, and faces the Australians the following day.

PRE-SEASON IN EUROPE

Preparations began in Burgos, Spain, in early September. In the first friendly, Flamengo was defeated by San Pablo Burgos, 106 to 86. The team returns to the court this Friday (12), against San Sebastian, before traveling to Singapore.

The 2025/26 FlaBasquete season begins with a commitment outside the country. This Monday (8), the red-black delegation arrived in Madrid, Spain, to play two friendlies before the FIBA Intercontinental Cup , scheduled to take place between September 18 and 21, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.


Before boarding, last Saturday (6), Orgulho da Nação opened the doors of the Hélio Maurício gym, in Gávea, for an open training session that brought together hundreds of fans. After the activity, players and coaching staff thanked the Nation for its support , taking photos and signing autographs.


FlaBasquete 's first match on Spanish soil will be this Wednesday (10), at 3 pm (Brasília time), against Burgos . On Friday (12), at the same time, the team returns to the court to face San Sebastian. The games serve as immediate preparation for the world tournament.


DEBUT IN THE INTERCONTINENTAL CUP

After the two friendlies, Flamengo heads to Singapore, where they will make their FIBA Intercontinental Cup debut on September 18th at 6:00 a.m. (Brasília time) against G League United. The competition will feature continental champions and invited teams at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Flamengo continues its preparations for the official basketball season , which promises an intense calendar. Before heading to Spain, where it will carry out pre-season training and, subsequently, compete in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup , the red-black squad received the affection of the Nation this Saturday (06).


The Hélio Maurício Gymnasium was packed with fans watching the morning's activities . After practice, the players welcomed the crowd with photos and autographs, strengthening their connection with the fans before the trip to the European continent.


WHAT IS THE SITUATION OF FLAMENGO?


Flamengo will travel to Europe next Monday (08) and will begin training the following day. The first friendly will be on Wednesday (10), against San Pablo Burgos (ESP). Two days later, on Friday (12), the team will face San Sebastián (ESP).

Next, the red-and-black delegation travels to Singapore, where they will compete in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup , a tournament in which the club is seeking its third championship. The Mais Querido won the title in 2014, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv, and in 2022 , beating San Pablo Burgos.
