Flamengo has begun negotiations with Atlético de Madrid with a view to signing Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. The player, who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, has the Spanish club's approval to be sold, despite coach Diego Simeone's desire to keep him. The asking price is around 15 million euros, which is close to R$96 million.
Flamengo is working to strengthen its squad in the mid-year transfer window and is considering signing Rodrigo De Paul. At 30 years old, the Argentine is going through a possible career transition and is looking forward to returning to South American football. The information was initially released by journalist Júlio Miguel Neto, who pointed out the red-and-blacks' interest in negotiating with the Atlético de Madrid midfielder.
According to Spanish journalist Marcos Durán, Atlético de Madrid is willing to release De Paul, but only upon payment of 15 million euros (around R$96 million at the current exchange rate) . The amount is considered high, and any eventual agreement would depend on installments or bonuses for goals.
Although Atlético coach Diego Simeone sees De Paul as an important player in the Colchonero squad, the club's board of directors has not ruled out selling the player. The need to restructure the squad and reduce the payroll could contribute to his release. De Paul is still available in Europe, but, so far, Flamengo appears to be one of the most active interested parties.
Since arriving at Atlético de Madrid, De Paul has played 123 matches, scored 10 goals and provided 16 assists. In addition to his stats, he has also drawn attention to his intensity and leadership on the pitch. He was a regular starter for the Argentine national team that won the World Cup in Qatar, with outstanding performances alongside Lionel Messi. Flamengo drew 0-0 with Cruzeiro last Thursday (2), in the 26th round of the Brasileirão. With no time to rest, the red-black squad returned this Friday (3) afternoon , at Ninho do Urubu, to begin preparations for the duel against Bahia. Training begins at 3:30 pm (Brasília time), under the command of Filipe Luís.
In a head-to-head clash at the top of the table, Flamengo and Cruzeiro played a tight match at the Maracanã. In the first half, the Minas Gerais team closed well, preventing any major scoring chances , and threatened the red-and-black team, which was saved by Rossi and Alex Sandro.
In the second half, after Filipe Luís's changes, Cruzeiro managed to create more opportunities, but failed to break down the opposing defense , with only two significant chances. Cruzeiro also barely threatened goalkeeper Rossi.

Flamengo hosted Cruzeiro this Thursday (2), at Maracanã, for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship, and the duel ended in a 0-0 draw. Despite the chances created, especially in the second half, goalkeepers Rossi and Cássio were protagonists and ensured the score was zero.
Flamengo started with more possession and offensive pressure, but couldn't convert their dominance into goals. Cruzeiro, on the other hand, leveled the scoreline and created the best chances of the first half , with Kaio Jorge and Christian both being saved by Rossi . The red-and-blacks' best chance came from Arrascaeta's header that went just wide of the post.
The game picked up in intensity in the second half, with both teams pushing forward more. Flamengo nearly opened the scoring with shots from Samuel Lino, Plata, and Carrascal , but Cássio made crucial saves to keep Cruzeiro in the match.
