In recent years, the importance of mental health in sport has gained prominence, especially in football, where the pressure for results can be intense. However, despite this growing awareness, a recent analysis reveals that 8 of the 20 clubs in Série A of the Brazilian Championship still do not have psychologists on their coaching staffs.

Sports psychologists play a crucial role in the mental and emotional development of athletes . They help improve performance, deal with pressure, overcome injuries, maintain motivation and ensure players are in a good psychological state to compete. In a high-pressure environment like professional football, where athletes are constantly challenged physically and mentally, psychological supportcan be the difference between success and failure.

A QUESTION TO BE RAISED

These clubs have demonstrated a commitment to the well-being of their players, understanding that success on the field also depends on a healthy mind. The work of these professionals goes beyond conversation, including visualization, relaxation and stress control techniques, as well as interventions at critical moments of the season, such as decisive phases of championships and recovery periods from injuries.

Integrate the sports psychology in football is not a simple task. It involves a cultural change within clubs and among athletes themselves, who can often see seeking psychological help as a sign of weakness. Furthermore, there is the financial challenge: keeping a psychologist on the team is an investment that not all clubs are willing to make, especially those with more limited budgets.

This Sunday, Mais Querido will take the field against Athletico for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship with a mixed lineup. Due to the physical exhaustion of some athletes and with the focus on the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, which will take place in the middle of the week, coach Tite chose to preserve part of the squad. Eight changes will be made compared to the team that played against Peñarol last Thursday, when CRF was eliminated from the Libertadores.

GABIGOL AS STARTER

Gabigol, number 99, is one of the confirmed starters for the match. The striker will have a new opportunity as a starter after almost two months, repeating his role as a starter in the game against São Paulo, in August. Matheus Gonçalves, a young man who has stood out in recent matches, is also selected for the offensive sector.

Of the athletes who played against Peñarol, only Rossi, Léo Ortiz, Gerson and Plata will start this Sunday's clash. Important names such as Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro, De La Cruz, Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique will be on the bench, ready to enter if necessary.

The CRF formation will have: Rossi in goal ; Wesley, David Luiz, Léo Ortiz and Ayrton Lucas in defense; Pulgar, Alcaraz, Gerson and Matheus Gonçalves in midfield; with Plata and Gabigol forming the attacking duo.

SKILLS AND RETURNS

In addition to Carlinhos' suspension, Expelled in the match against Grêmio, Tite will also be without some important players. Michael, who has already returned to training, will only be available for the game against Corinthians, in midweek. Other absences include Cebolinha, Viña, Pedro and Luiz Araújo.

WHERE TO WATCH

In this way, red and black fans who want to watch another Mais Querido match will only have one option. This is because only Premiere (pay-per-view) will broadcast the game between Flamengo and Athletico-PR.

Even though the lineup has not yet been defined, there is a possibility that Tite will again spare half of the athletes in the Brasileirão. However, it is likely that the coach will reduce the number of reserves, unlike the clash against Grêmio, in which 12 athletes were preserved.

Probable Flamengo lineup: Rossi; Varela (Wesley), Fabrício Bruno (David Luiz), Léo Pereira (Cleiton) and Alex Sandro (Ayrton Lucas); Léo Ortiz (Evertton Araújo), De la Cruz (Pulgar), Arrascaeta (Alcaraz) and Gerson (Lorran); Plata (Matheus Gonçalves) and Bruno Henrique (Gabigol) Coach: Tite.

Probable lineup for Athletico-PR: Mycael; Madson (Léo Godoy), Kaique Rocha, Thiago Heleno and Esquivel; Erick, Christian (Praxedes) and Zapelli; Cuello, Canobbio and Mastriani (Pablo).

The elimination of the Libertadores last Thursday (26) shook the structures of Flamengo. Now, the squad is trying to overcome the atmosphere of discouragement that took hold behind the scenes before the matches against Athletico-PR, in the Brasileirão, and Corinthians, in the Copa do Brasil.

The team's re-presentation on Friday (27), after the fall in Uruguay, it occurred amid “silence”. According to information from ‘Coluna do Fla’, the players barely spoke to each other upon returning to the CT. Thus, the feeling of disappointment dominated the activities, both of the regenerating starters and the reserves on the field.

Tite and his coaching staff are now looking to regain the squad's focus for the remainder of the season. Flamengo has two games scheduled in less than seven days after elimination. Rubro-Negro will face Athletico-PR this Sunday (29), in the 28th round of the Brasileirão, and Corinthians on Wednesday (02), in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.

Resumption in the Brasileirão and in the Copa do Brasil

With 45 points and in fourth place, Flamengo hasn't won in three rounds in the Brasileirão and sees the distance to leader Botafogo increase to 12 points. Therefore, this Sunday's match (29) is crucial for Tite's aspirations in the competition.

Flamengo's campaign in the Copa do Brasil has been positive. After eliminating Amazonas, Palmeiras and Bahia, Rubro-Negro prepares to face Corinthians and reaches the semifinals with the spirit of two victories in the quarterfinals. However, the team's morale is not the best. Flamengo x Athletico-PR

In the “eye of the storm”, the game against Athletico -PR will be Flamengo's first after their elimination in the Libertadores. The match is scheduled for 8pm (Brasília time) this Sunday (29), at Maracanã.
