The Brazilian tennis player was defeated by Chilean Nicolás Jarry in the third round of the tournament and spoke about the moment he is experiencing in his career

Last Friday (4), João Fonseca was dominated by Nicolás Jarry and said goodbye to Wimbledon . Even with the elimination, the confrontation left some lessons for the young tennis player. He had the opportunity to balance the match, with chances in the third and fourth sets, but ended up coming up against the Chilean's precise serve.
Despite the defeat, João Fonseca preferred to look forward when speaking after the duel. He emphasized that he could have done something differently, but that is now in the past. The young man also says that he will continue working, with a positive mindset.
João Fonseca speaks after defeat: "Could I have done something differently? I could have, but it's an "if" that doesn't help me grow as a player."
He continued: "So, it's about keeping working, with a positive mind. The lesson is that, even two sets down, you can still win the match. It's about keeping your head held high, working harder. Next year there will be more and there will be the next round . So, let's go all out there," he said.
Without complaining, João Fonseca analyzed Jarry 's performance and recognized the merit of his opponent. The young tennis player highlighted that Niko started the match well and was aggressive in his serve and returns.
"It was a tough match. Niko started off really well, aggressive on his serve and returns. I wasn't hitting my first serve and he took on a more proactive rhythm - which is something I usually do. The first two sets went by really quickly. In the fourth, it could have gone either way , but he served really well in the decisive moments. That's all thanks to him," he added.
Now, João Fonseca will only return to the courts on July 26, at the ATP 500 in Toronto. Soon after, the Brazilian will head to the United States, where he is confirmed for the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati and the US Open.
