A source within Peixe confirmed that the black and white team offered a monthly salary of R$2 million to have the top scorer back in the squad. However, the desire not to compete in Series B of the Brazilian Championship weighed on the player's decision, and he chose to refuse the offer. 

Santos, who face the harsh reality of Series B, saw in Gabigol a chance to leverage the team's technical quality and increase the chances of a quick return to the elite of national football. The proposal of R$2 million per month was considered a significant effort, especially given the club's current financial condition, which has been dealing with several financial and administrative difficulties in recent years.

GABIGOL'S INDEFINITE FUTURE

Gabigol's decision, however, was influenced by his desire to remain in Serie A. At 27 years old, Gabriel Barbosa is at a crucial moment in his career and seeks to remain in evidence on the Brazilian football scene, something that the second division would not provide the same way. The visibility and challenges of Série A weighed more than Peixe's financial offer.

In addition to the Santos proposal, the staff of Gabigol revealed that the striker received an offer of R$3 million per month from another club in Brazil, whose name was not disclosed. This even more generous proposal puts Gabriel in a comfortable position to negotiate his future, being able to opt for a team that better meets his financial and sporting expectations.
