Cruzeiro officially presented, this Sunday (12), the defender Fabrício Bruno as new reinforcement during the team's pre-season in the United States. The defender, who returns to the club that revealed him, highlighted his motivation to be a protagonist and contribute to the team's growth in 2025.
“It's a special moment for me to be back at Cruzeiro. This is where it all started, where my career was designed. I didn't think twice when I received the proposal. I want to give back to the club everything it gave me and fight for great titles”, declared the defender.
RETURNING TO THE CRUISE AFTER PASSING THROUGH FLAMENGO
Fabrício Bruno began his career at Cruzeiro at the age of 15, rising to the professional team in 2016. After a period on loan to Chapecoense, the player left the Minas Gerais team in 2020, passing through Red Bull Bragantino before arriving at Mengão.
During his time at CRF , Fabrício played 150 matches and won four important titles, including the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores. Now, back at Cruzeiro, the defender claims to be more mature and prepared to contribute to the group.
“Leave I was very young, 22 years old, and I had experiences that transformed me into the player and man I am today. The time at Red Bull and Flamengo was a lot of learning. But the desire to return home was always there. Today, I return with baggage, more mature, and ready to help Cruzeiro grow even more”, he explained.
PROTAGONISM AND CHALLENGE IN THE SEARCH FOR OWNER
Fabrício Bruno highlighted that the search for new challenges was one of the factors that motivated him to leave Mais Querido . The player believes that Cruzeiro offers the opportunity to regain his leading role and increase his chances of being called up to the Brazilian team.
“ I was having a stable moment at Flamengo, but I wanted more. I need to be on the field, compete and show up. Cruzeiro offers me this. I want to fight for the starting line-up and help the club achieve big goals. I feel like I still owe a debt to Cruzeiro for the way I left in the past, and that was the main motivation for my return”, revealed the defender.
ENTUSIASM WITH THE CAST AND THE DINIZ'S WORK
Under the command of coach Fernando Diniz, Cruzeiro reinforced the squad for 2025 with important names. Fabrício Bruno praised the coach's work philosophy and demonstrated enthusiasm for the group, mentioning players such as João Marcelo, Villalba and Jonathan.
“I really admire the way Diniz works, the way he leads the group and seeks intensity in games. We have a qualified cast. My experience in decisions, such as the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores finals, can be useful to strengthen the defensive sector. But no one is guaranteed a place here. I will work hard to earn my space and help young people grow”, highlighted the defender.
The decisive classic takes place this Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm, with live broadcast on ESPN and Disney+, and teams with important returns and absences

Estudiantes is already in Rio de Janeiro for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals against Flamengo , scheduled for Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. The Argentine team trained at Fluminense's facilities , preparing for the decisive duel.
Coach Eduardo Domínguez tested a more conservative formation, including an extra defensive midfielder in midfield, as a strategy to contain Flamengo's attacks. Estudiantes ' likely lineup for the clash includes: Muslera; Gómez, Nuñez, Rodríguez, Arzamendia; Ascacibar, Piovi, Amondarain, Medina, Tiago Palacios; Carrillo.
It's not yet clear whether Piovi will play as an extra midfielder or be replaced by Castro . Amondarain, despite being an attacking midfielder, could drop back and act as a third midfielder, depending on Domínguez's strategy in recent training sessions.
