Flamengo rejected a proposal of €5 million (around R $32 million) from Cruzeiroby 50% of economic rights from defender Fabrício Bruno. The decision was in line with the analysis of commentator and former player Zinho, who also believes that the deal would be unfavorable to Rubro-Negro.

For Zinho, while the transfer could benefit both Fabrício Bruno and Cruzeiro — providing the athlete with more playing time and reinforcing the Minas Gerais team — Flamengo would be harmed. The commentator highlighted the need to maintain a robust squad to compete on multiple fronts in 2025.
“ The business that is on the market is very good for Fabrício Bruno and Cruzeiro, but very bad for Flamengo. The team will compete in several competitions, it has to have a squad. If all the players continue to leave and there is no replacement... There needs to be balance”, commented Zinho on the "ESPN FC" program.
Zinho also reinforced that, although the Flamengo has the strongest squad in Brazil, Palmeiras and Botafogo are close in terms of quality. He considers it difficult for Rubro-Negro to accept any new move from Cruzeiro for the defender, indicating a value that he would consider fair for Mengão.
“The casts of Palmeiras and Botafogo are also strong. Firstly, it is 50%, the player has 28 years of maturity. At Cruzeiro, he arrives playing as a starter. For Flamengo, the deal is bad, but I think it is difficult for the club to release. The Tricolor de Aço will have absences across all positions: goalkeeper, defense, full-backs, midfield, and attack. Nine players are injured and four are suspended, forcing the coach to resort to an alternative formation to face the league leaders.
Among the players missing are Luciano Juba, Rodrigo Nestor, Santiago Arias, and Sanabria , as well as players recovering from injuries like Kanu and Erick. The situation forces Ceni to assemble a new defense and even consider potential debutants.
