This Monday (21), the now former right-back Rafinha, former Flamengo player , officially announced his retirement from the pitch, participating in Seleção SporTV. Thus, he will become a commentator for the channel.
Former Flamengo player Rafinha announces retirement: "Today I officially announce the end of my career as a professional football player."
He continued: "A very special moment in my life. I thank God, who gave me a wonderful journey in my career. I didn't expect to get to where I am. I was blessed. I am fulfilled in my profession. Today is coming to an end, I no longer play professionally ," declared Rafinha, very emotional with the announcement.
"Of course, life goes on, but I'm not going to go into the stadium anymore, to lead the life I've always led, the life I lived in the locker room. I've made so many friends along the way. Everything has a beginning and an end. Fulfilled, without any regrets, but with a broken heart, because it's not an easy decision. We want to stretch the rope as far as we can, we've done that our whole lives. I've fulfilled all my dreams in football," the former player concluded.
Rafinha was signed by Flamengo in 2019. At Mais Querido, the full-back won the Brazilian Championship (2019 and 2020) and Libertadores (2019). He left Rubro-Negro in 2021, when he transferred to Olympiacos (GRE).
So, while Rafinha says goodbye to the pitch, Flamengo 's squad remains focused on the season's upcoming commitments. The Mais Querido returns to the field on Wednesday (23), in a clash against Bragantino, at 9:30 pm. The game will be valid for the 16th round of the Brasileirão.

In his column for UOL Esporte, Walter Casagrande highlighted the red-and-black team's performance, stating that a strong performance against Colorado was expected . For the commentator, the versatility and talent of the squad were decisive in the team's positive run.

After intense days in Porto Alegre, where they faced matches for the Brasileirão and Libertadores , Flamengo decided to give the squad a break this Friday (22). Before that, on Thursday (21), coach Filipe Luís led an activity to maintain the group's concentration right after qualifying in the continental tournament.
The coaching staff understood that the moment called for a balance between effort and recovery . Therefore, they decided to release the players for a day, allowing them physical and mental rest after the grueling sequence of games. No training sessions were scheduled at Ninho do Urubu.
The squad returns this Saturday (23) to begin preparations with an eye on the next commitment in the Brazilian Championship . Filipe Luís will have two days of work to adjust tactical issues and reinforce concepts before defining the starting team.

Flamengo has a new master sponsor . Betano has signed a contract to pay the club R$268.5 million per season. As part of the agreement, the company will deposit R$85.5 million upfront within seven days . The information was revealed by journalist Venê Casagrande.
The amount is one of the largest ever agreed in Brazilian football and reinforces Mais Querido's market power. The board expects the initial investment this week to improve the club's financial health . Betano won the competition against other market giants such as Sportingbet and Superbet.
The international transfer window remains open until September 2nd, and Flamengo can still sign reinforcements for the remainder of the season . With nearly R$100 million available, the club could make a major move. So far, however, no negotiations are underway.
On the field, Filipe Luís's team maintains its dominance. Flamengo leads the Brazilian Championship with 43 points, four points ahead of second-place Palmeiras, who have 39. In the Copa Libertadores, the team secured a spot in the quarterfinals after eliminating Internacional.
