Former Flamengo player, Arturo Vidal, returned to the spotlight after his team's 1-1 draw and River Plate in the Libertadores quarter-finals. Known for his controversial style, the Chilean took advantage of the result to provoke the Argentine team's players, stating that he has more titles than all the members of the opposing squad.

ARTURO VIDAL PROVOCATION

After the confrontation, Vidal did not mince words. "If we compare the titles, I have more than all the River players", said the midfielder, who won the Libertadores with Flamengo in 2022. The statement came after the draw that left the decision open for the second leg, which will be played this Tuesday (24), at the Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires. The winner of this match will face the qualifier from the duel between Atlético-MG and Fluminense in the semi-finals of the continental competition.

VIDAL TALKS ABOUT RIVER'S INTENSITY

In addition to the provocation, Vidal demonstrated his frustration at not having participated directly in the game. He praised River Plate's intensity, but highlighted his team's superiority. "I really wanted to be on the field, because they were talking about River's intensity. We deserved to win. We attacked in every way, but they took advantage of our only mistake. Let's look for qualification in Argentina", said the player, showing confidence for the second confrontation.

The move that resulted in the Rubro-Negro's first goal directly involved the duo. After a shot from Samuel Lino, goalkeeper Rochet saved, leaving the ball free in the box. Plata headed the ball, and Arrascaeta finished, opening the scoring in a 2-0 victory over the Rio Grande do Sul team.
