Tite continues to lead Flamengo's preparations for the duel against Fluminense on Saturday (11), corresponding to the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship. However, the current controversy is associated with statements made by a former club coach. Vítor Pereira caused controversy when he described Brazilian players as 'savages' when they arrived in Europe.

— Both are special players, but they need time. They need to work tactically, because they arrive from Brazil a bit 'savage', if you know what I mean. They have technical quality and are fast, which is why they stand out. They are quality players, but it's one thing to play in Brazil and another thing to play in Europe," said Vítor Pereira, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper 'Marca'.

At the moment in question, the former coach Flamengo approached the signing of Endrick and Vitor Roque. This promising pair of players signed contracts with Real Madrid (ESP) and Barcelona (ESP), respectively. It is important to highlight that, since his dismissal by Rubro-Negro in April 2023, the coach remains unaffiliated with any club.

In addition to the statement regarding Brazilian players, Vítor Pereira also recalled his time at Flamengo . For the former coach, the main problem at Rubro-Negro was the short time to train and the length of trips between matches.

— I arrived at Flamengo and started competing for titles without training. In two months we were competing for four titles. In Brazil, the big problem is that the trips are very long, the temperature differences are huge, there are many competitions. And you have little time to train. And I need that to implement my way of playing. At Flamengo I didn't have time. At Corinthians, on the other hand, I think we did a great job — he concluded.

Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. Check it out:

"The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
