On the rise at Flamengo, the defender Fabrício Bruno was cited this Monday as the third defender with the most minutes in world football in the last 365 days. The data was released by the Football Observatory of the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES Football Observatory).

According to the institute, Fabrício Bruno played for 5622 minutes within the aforementioned interval. Ahead of him are only Fidel Escobar, from Saprissa (Costa Rica), and Gil, from Santos. It is worth noting that the latter, recently hired by Peixe, played most of his games with the Corinthians shirt.

Completing the top-5 released by CIES are Palmeiras native Gustavo Gómez and Argentine Otamendi, from Benfica. Of the quintet, only Gil has no call-ups for national teams within the period. Fabrício Bruno was the last of the five to represent his country.

Signed in 2022 by Flamengo, Fabrício Bruno has 109 games and five goals for Flamengo.

After the third round of the Brasileirão, Fabrício Júnior and a member of Flamengo's squad shifts focus to the Libertadores. Next Wednesday (24), Rubro-Negro will go to La Paz, in Bolivia, where they will face Bolívar at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters. The Most Wanted will have to win or draw if they want to take the lead in the competition.

Victory to respect

Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Superliga

FIFA will announce the venues for the 2025 Super Club World Cup this Saturday (28). The announcement will be made during the Global Citizen Festival. The event will be held in Central Park, New York. FIFA did not detail how many cities and stadiums will host the 2025 edition. This will be the first time that the tournament will feature 32 teams.

The Super World Cup will be held between June 15 and July 13, 2025 The competition already has 30 qualified teams, with three Brazilians among them: Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense. Brazil may have one more representative. This is because Atlético-MG and Botafogo are fighting for the last South American place in the competition — the Libertadores title gives them the place. Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The United States will host the first edition of the tournament in this format. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups with four teams each, with them facing each other in a single round. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

Léo Ortiz says he studies volance so he doesn't make mistakes on the field: "I take videos to analyze"

Bruno Henrique's attack from deep and the perfect pass for Arrascaeta to score were fundamental in Flamengo's 1-0 victory over Bahia, which qualified the Cariocas to the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. But it is impossible to talk about the move and the triumph without mentioning Léo Ortiz, the intellectual author of the move and a great highlight of the game.

- In fact, I was looking for Arrasca throughout the game, at every moment there between the lines. I know he likes to play a lot in that role there, we know how much he makes opponents difficult in that position on the field. I tried to look for her, then she responded, and we know that now we have another man there, with another characteristic, said Ortiz, who continued...

- Pedro is already a more retention player, who holds the ball, and we know Bruno is a guy who always tries to attack space. As soon as she hit, I passed forward, looking for depth. Of course, we also have to value Bruno's movement, who had been looking for this throughout the game. Sometimes you can't think too much, but it's more about getting the idea of what the attacker likes to do - explained the number 3.

Study and repetition are fundamental in adaptation

Léo Ortiz doesn't hide from anyone that he prefers to play in his original position, that of defender. He has said this in interviews, but he has definitely never refused to play as a midfielder. The biggest proof of this is that in Flamengo's last 12 games, the number 3 played in 11, nine of them as a midfielder. In this cut, he even started as a defender against Bragantino, but during the match he ended up being advanced. In other words, the word "improvisation" no longer applies when it comes to playing outside the defense.

- I can't really call it improvisation, I've been doing this role many times. I'm not sure about the data, but I believe I've played more as a midfielder than as a defender since I arrived. I think I'm already getting used to the role. Of course, I maintain my original role, which is defender, but today I'm more adapted there, finding more spaces and managing to develop my game the way I like it and the way the team needs it too.

Despite preference for the defense, the "frila" in the "volância", as he himself refers to the role he has been performing, is the certainty of more opportunities during the games.

- It presents me with more opportunities, right? ? I think we have a very good competition there in the defense, in the "volance" too, obviously. But this opportunity arose mainly in the Copa América. I believe that I have been improving and growing in relation to this. I think that with each game, each training session and each moment I have to reflect on what I did in the game and in past games. What I got right and what I got wrong to adapt and grow my game, because, despite having played this role at the base, I'm still reinventing myself and returning to some behaviors I had there as a midfielder. Adapting again to what has been asked by Professor Tite. And I believe I have everything to grow even more.
