The Champions League round, with the definition of the last four classified in the quarter-finals, can also determine who Europe's representatives will be in the 2025 Club World Cup, which will have the participation of Brazilians Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense. Depending on the results, some clubs can guarantee their classification for the tournament according to the FIFA ranking criteria.

The organization is guaranteeing eight, of the 12 places given to UEFA, for the continental competition. The other four spaces are for the Champions League champions from 2021 to 2024:  Chelsea (ING), Real Madrid (ESP) and Manchester City (ING) for the Champions League titles of recent years, already defined. At the moment, if we take into account the ranking prepared by FIFA, some teams that will also have space in the competition are: Bayern Munich (ALE), PSG (FRA), Inter Milan (ITA), Porto (POR), Benfica (POR ) and Borussia Dortmund (ALE).

The last four Champions League round of 16 games can determine up to three qualifiers for the World Cup, but you don't exactly want the spots to be filled 100%. This is due to the duel between Barcelona (ESP) and Napoli (ITA), which has implications for both sides.

In the event of Barça's elimination, for example, Atlético de Madrid is the one celebrating, regardless whether to play for Inter Milan or not. Today, the Colchoneros have a six-point advantage in the rankings over the Catalans, who, if they fall at this stage, will no longer have any chance of overtaking their rival from Madrid. On the other side of the confrontation, the elimination of Napoli could qualify Juventus (ITA) for the World Cup, which, although outside the Champions League, has a five-point advantage over the current Italian champions in the FIFA rankings for the World Cup.

< The third club that could go to the World Cup this week is curious: RB Salzburg (AUS), which was eliminated at the bottom of its group in the current Champions League. To do this, Arsenal (who face Porto) and PSV (Borussia Dortmund) need to be eliminated. This is because, in the event of Arsenal and PSV falling, the champion of the current Champions League season will already have a place in the World Cup or will take the place of another club from their country in the rankings, due to the limitation imposed by FIFA.

It is worth remembering that football's highest governing body limited the World Cup to two clubs per country , with the only exception being teams from the same place winning the continental tournament – as is the case with Brazil in CONMEBOL Libertadores, with Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense. The 2025 Club Super World Cup will be played in the United States, between June 15 and July 13 next year, with eight groups of four clubs. The best two from each advance to the round of 16, which will be played in a single game, like all knockouts until the final.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME
