Flamengo is in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores after beating Internacional 2-0 , this Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio. The result confirmed the team's good phase under the command of Filipe Luís , but the coach tried to avoid comparisons with Jorge Jesus, idol of the Nation and reference in the 2019 title.

The coach emphasized that his philosophy is essentially about constant pressure and stifling opponents, but acknowledged the changing nature of football: " The idea is to crush the opponent for as long as possible . Of course, we often won't succeed, and other times we'll play poorly and even lose. But the goal is always to play the game, to play with the ball on the ground," he added.
While Flamengo didn't quite put on a show, it was solid in Porto Alegre. The defense didn't allow Internacional to get a shot on target against Agustín Rossi , who didn't have to work hard. The team from Rio Grande do Sul only threatened late on, when Borré hit the post.
On the other side, the Mais Querido were efficient. Arrascaeta opened the scoring in the first half, taking advantage of a rebound inside the box, and Pedro, in the final stretch, sealed the victory 2-0. With the result, Flamengo advanced 3-0 on aggregate .
In the quarterfinals, Flamengo will face Estudiantes de La Plata (ARG). The first leg will take place in Rio de Janeiro, between September 16th and 18th , while the return leg will be in Argentina, between the 23rd and 25th of the same month.

Alan Patrick also expressed his frustration with the result and called for internal changes to enable the club to compete at a high level again. Pressure on coach Roger Machado is mounting after the elimination. Colorado fans booed the team after the game ended .
"It's hard to find the words. Elimination at home always hurts, but we need to rethink some things because we still have to compete at this level . Of course, we're frustrated, as are our fans," he added.
Wednesday's duel (20) was Alan Patrick's 13th against Rubro-Negro. The midfielder has 5 losses, 4 wins and 4 draws . With no time for immediate rest, the delegation returned from Porto Alegre to Rio de Janeiro on Thursday morning (21), on a flight scheduled for 11:45 am (Brasília time). At 3:30 pm, the squad will return to Ninho do Urubu for activities . Despite this, the group will have a day off this Friday (22), resuming training on Saturday (23) and Sunday (24), in preparation for the next commitment in the Brasileirão.
Flamengo opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the first half. After a shot by Samuel Lino and a mistake by Rochet, Plata headed the ball to Arrascaeta, who finished first time to make it 1-0. " I'm happy to be able to help the team, whether with a goal or an assist. On the field, that's the most important thing for me. I'm happy, I'm able to get into the box and score. However, the most important thing was to come out with the qualification," said the midfielder after the match at Beira-Rio.
With the victory at Beira-Rio, the Red-Blacks confirmed their place in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores and will face Estudiantes-ARG.
